I only have the pattern for the Vetter trunk and the adjustable backrest though.I just checked their site. To cover the backrest is $40. I'd expect it to be more to fix or replace that pouch. That should give you an idea what you're up against, and if it's worth your while. Nice job, BTW!

I have that backrest. It has seen better days. I was going to send it to Sargent (they did the seat), but I haven't gotten around to it.

Got the Wheels & Tires Back On It
Finally had enough break in the rain to get my wheels with new tires and reflective stripes I added to the wheels put back on the bike
I also put the "like new" stock seat I just got from a guy in Ohio

My wifes XJ1100 had a stumble int eh lower RPM's so I pulled the carbs off cleaned them and put them back on. (Started about 8:00pm and finished at 11:30pm) Now it pulls strong from the start.
Next it's fix the second gear.
By the way they don't give you much room to get those carbs out do they. No wonder there are a lot of XJ's with pods.Ty

small changes
If you change those screws to allen head cap screws, mount the clamps so the screws are on top and use a electric screwdriver they will come off in about 2 minuts and go back on in about 3 mins. See the video of me doing it and posted on youtube by 3phase.

I have always put the carb into the intake boots on the engine first. Your way looks a lot easier. The XJ seems to have about 1/2 in less room the XS's (the Airbox does not move as much). Next time I will try attaching them to the air box an see if that works better. ThanksTy

cool video, also about you painting your tank, i guess i am going to have to do that cause i got mine too full yesterday and it leaked out and screwed my paint up bad. Took it off to the primer. It had been painted before so it wasnt a very good job. What kind of paint will not bubble and come off with gas?Jeff

Its the clear coat that protects
Mine I painted with duplicolor in a can, but used the two-part clear in a can to spray the topcoat. Catalyzed clear will protect it from gas spills just like your car finish. (its still not good for it but damge is cumulative over a long time)

One can will cover one whole bike tank and two side covers with three coats each, or just two gas tanks. Must be used within 24 hours of mixing the catalyst.

Yup, that's the stuff I used over Duplicolor just as you said. Next time I'm in Arkansas I need to run over to Mountain Home and get a couple cans of that stuff. That's where it was shipped from. Save the shipping.
I've been doing some reading and what I've come up with is to let it cure for no more than 7 days then sand very lightly with 420 the sand with 600 then 1200 and finally 3000. Then polish.
That sound right? Sounds like a lot of freakin' work to me.

Installed Kuryakyn ISO-Grips in the all black flavor on "Old Man" Didn't look forward to sanding down my throttle tube to install, but in the end it was worth it. Love these grips!
