They mount to the motor mount bolts. I got them off eBay quite some time ago, supposedly from an XS, bot sure if they are intended for an xs cause they are "modified" some but they work.

Knife is fine, thats right where it's supposed to be, doesn't even move when riding.

I think with a little more McGivering you could retain the engine guards Nate.

I had a set of floorboards like that and I traded them to Joe.

Yeah, I plan on working on it but only one part at a time. They came with a set of passenger boards to, but for them to mount straight I have to do a little more mcgivering.

Fabbed a 14" wind deflector from stainless sheet scrounged from an old ice maker, used an English Wheel at work to form. Stainless is tough to work with! Pics when I get it mounted.

I feel like I have a lot to do to get ready for the trek up to the lost rally. Only a couple hundred miles but it is the first time doing a multi-day trip on a bike!

Ordered clutch and throttle cable to take with. Some other little farkle things for creature comforts. Anything else that is a must?

You really are worrying over nothing Nate. You won't even have to stop for gas in 200 miles. I was a bit nervous the first time I took my scoot 820mi. to the Lost Rally and ended up having 2 flats on the rear before I got there. I'd do it all again tomorrow if I could.

Have a blast man, wish I could be there this year.

I am not worrying about anything, just wondering if there is something I am forgetting.

I have done 200ish miles at a time in the past but that was all usually within 50 miles of home.

Nathan, since you asked, I'll say that you may consider bringing a tire plug kit and a small pump. With all the work you've done to that bike, i have faith that it will be trouble- free. But as Greg mentioned, flats can happen.

The only other thing to bring is a rain suit. Sucks to ride for hours when soaked.

I lucked out pretty well with the tire problems I had. The first flat happened in Owasso, Ok. Just outside tulsa and I stopped at a Walmart there and bought a plug kit and aired up the tire in the Walmart automotive dept.

The second time the tire threw the plug while Russ and I were haulin' across western Missouri in the middle of nowhere. I still had the plug kit I bought at WM and replugged the tire. Luckily there was a road crew working on the highway right across from where we stopped and they had a big compressor and I rode across the barrow pit on a flat and aired it back up.

Can't ask for better luck than that.

Well, it would have been luckier not to have had problems at all but.....under the circumstances.....

WATER! Not for the bike - for You.
If you are picky about oil, maybe a quart for your bike. Some people insist on a cell phone, but I prefer cigars for smoke signals.

I recommend tightening the exhaust nuts (DAMHIK), some fuses, multimeter and color printout of wiring diagram (DAMHIKIJK).
