fuel bottle
I made a little auxiliary fuel tank from an old empty Lucas Fuel treatment bottle.
Drilled a hole in bottom just slightly smaller than some clear line I had.
Cut off cone shaped tip to just smaller than the line also so line could be press fit in both - cut line about 18" long...
Measured where line would be inside the bottle if 2" stuck out bottom of bottle, then drilled 4 small holes in the thick fuel line. Now when bottle is filled, line in hole in bottom keeps fuel from dumping out when filling. Screw cap on and turn upside down after hooked up to a fuel tee.
I just set bottle on frame and it gravity fed the bike fine - you could squeeze lightly or raise up if you need more flow.
The line out the bottom acts as a vent and allows free flow out nose.
Anyway its nice to be able to work without big tank in the way.

Sometimes I cover it sometimes I don't. I had a piece of cardboard laying right there that fit perfect so I did it. And I definitely don't trust you Greg!
John, they are pretty freakin huge. Don't remember the size, something like 20x17x8 ish. I was only planning on keeping them on there till I found a cover for the real hardball I have but I don't know if I could downgrade in size that much! So if I keep them on there they will get painted, if not they won't. Next they will get tail lights though.Nathan

I like those bags, Nate. If my plastic ones ever get crunched, I will bolt some of those on in their place. Like the lights too.1980 XS 11 Special: The King of Kong, 9th wonder of the world. Carbs for XJ
Finished cleaning and installing carbs on Dylan's XJ550 yesterday. Test run up the street after synch was super responsive. Got back and it wouldn't restart. Dead battery.
Charging up overnight....if it ain't one thing its another!
Finishing carbs today for Great Ranger.

Did battle with the airbox...
Finished carbs on Great Ranger and fought long and hard with the airbox.
I can squeeze the carbs in with box loose and get them into boots, but airbox boots though very pliable just didn't want to go on....tried for an hour, took a break and finally able to get them on. I hate that airbox.
Started it up before sync and things seem good. When I get home in a couple weeks I will adjust them properly.
Feels good to get two bikes back going in two days
Just agreed to do the Lone Star Rally in Galveston in November with friends and booked a hotel, so now I really need to get my bagger build going.

Getting Closer
I installed the new/rebuilt xs rear master cylinder, got the new SS brake lines on and bleed, hooked up the new left handlebar switch from Mikes XS. Just need to get the tank and seat back on and we will see how it goes and stops.1979XS1100SF

I have been looking at them forever and lately my hands have been killing me so I finally bit the bullet and put some Kuryakyn ISO Grips on!
I also have been noticing lately that I have slowly been getting a groove melted into my left boot
So that pushed me to figure out how to get the floorboards I got mounted. Took some ingenuity but I got it figured out. I did have to take the 3 point case guards off though
Feels pretty good sitting on it I will find out tomorrow morning how it all feels thought!Nathan
