I tried to talk him into bringing it to XS South East but he wouldn't do it.
It's been sitting since Montreux_Blue had his fatal accident so it needs the carbs refreshed and such. I think Tod is just afraid of crashing it. A well founded fear.Greg

I think you don't see green on Yamaha bikes very much because Kawasaki kind of made green their trademark color. I love the Kawasaki green though.

Green is my favorite color and green isn't a color you see a lot on these bikes. I don't know why. It actually looks quite good.
The Bob Jones custom "Limey Accent" is a good example.

MAC 4 to 2 exhaust
I broke down and bought a MAC 4 to 2 exhaust set. I'll post pics of the before and after when I get them installed.
I must be sick, now that my bike's on the road, I keep longingly looking for another inexpensive XS1100 on Craig's listGuy

I have Macs for my other 2 projects also. A 4 into 1 for the SF and another 4 into 2 for the E.
And yes, you may have contracted the XS fever. I have 1 rider, 2 projects, 4 frames and 7 engines. Not to mention a WALL of parts. Don't worry, it's cronic.Last edited by BA80; 02-17-2013, 01:04 PM.Greg

Remote Oil Cooler w/ Thermostat
I'm goin' out on a limb and trying something different.
On account of the Skettis and how close they run to the frame and trying to use the stock XS11 OC adapter plate, I had clearance issues with the feed and return lines for the OC.
I was able to run the lines along the frame in a real close to stock location but being in close proximity to the down pipes I decided to move the OC down under:
I used an XS 850 OC adapter plate and lines cut to fit, -8AN weld on bungs, -8AN 120* ells, -8AN Pro's Lite Hose,-8AN to 3/8" NPT straight, Perma-Cool #1060 remote oil thermostat with 3/8" FPT ports, 3/8" NPT x 5/8 barb 45* ells, 2 short lengths of XS 850 OC hose to original XS 850 OC 45* fittings and an XS11 OC.
Rock gaurd is a drip plate from one of our old coffee makers...perfect fit
A measured 2" loss on clearance to the black stuff...Oh well it's a Cruiser, I'll build the SF for more Spirited Adventures
I believe it'll catch some pretty good air under there and the custom low front fender I'll be fabbing up shortly will help protect it.1980 XS1100G "Dolly G" Full Dresser (with a coat of many colors )

Yes there is more involved but when I take a day or two for goin' over the bike it's not really that much more work.
The 120* ells swivel so I'll break them loose put one in a container and use compressed air to empty the OC. There's enough flex to get the oil filter cover and the oil pan drain plug out.
Also I can drop the whole thing from adapter to cooler easily.1980 XS1100G "Dolly G" Full Dresser (with a coat of many colors )

MAC 4 to 2 exhaust install
I got home from work and my new exhaust was waiting for me!
I've bolted the new exhaust on, but it looks like I'm going to have to get some spacers and adjust things a bit. The Right side sticks out a bit too much, so I'll have to move the exhaust in and down a bit. The left side looks like it needs the same treatment too.
The new exhaust is actually quieter than the old exhaust, I wasn't too happy with the constant drone at 3500rpm the old exhaust put out.
Here's some photos:

If you loosen it at the engine and get the mufflers where you want them and then tighten it back up it works good.
Those bullet mufflers were too quiet for me but I guess that's a matter of taste. I prefer the turnouts. I have the flare tips for for the E and they are a little quieter but I haven't ridden with them yet.
Looks good.
Watch for too much discoloration at the engine. Too blue means your running lean. You can't keep them from bluing a little though.
You can see my #4 was a little lean in this pic. I corrected it.Greg

Now that you mention it, I think I could turn the offset bracket around and it would move the exhaust in the right direction. I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning.Guy

With that brand-new exhaust, you might give some thought to coating the inside of the pipes with some anti-blueing compound. Applied properly to new, unused pipes, it does work...Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two

Well, I guess I'll have to order a jar of anti-bluing compound next time I get pipes. I didn't even know they made it before. When I Googled it I also learned that they make bluing remover too.
They say you learn something new every day, I've already learned two, so does that mean I'm ahead of the learning curve now???Guy
