Barnett is ALL I use for a reason. I have a complete clutch set for my winter project, and may put in a set on the '79 to keep the clutch working correctly.Ray Matteis

Make sure your clutch cable is in primo condition when using those Barnett HD springs. Just a heads up, motion pro cables are not what they used to be, they are cheap Chinese crap now.2H7 (79) owned since '89

Cables made in Taiwan or Japan seem to be better, I had 2 motion pro cables fail at the engine side, the ferrule broke off. No problem with the Taiwan, don't know about OEM.2H7 (79) owned since '89

I put Barnett kits in all 3 of mine year before last. Quite an improvement I must say. Now I have to keep my fingers crossed concerning my clutch cables. I put new cables on all three when I did the restorations on them. Sadly I believe they were motion pro. Like Marty I would love to know the source. Did a bit of research and AI says that the Motion Pro 05-0058 clutch cable is made in China. I am assuming that because Taiwan is literally a part of China that may be why Google AI assumes just China. I also found this listing on Ebay Yamaha XS1100 1978-1982 Black Vinyl MOTION PRO - 05-0058 - Clutch Cable | eBay the label clearly says Taiwan. Of course Motion Pro itself is a California based company which prides itself on USA made products. I am at this point hoping my cables are fine.Last edited by cajun31; Today, 12:56 PM.2 - 80 LGs bought one new

The ebay vendor I purchased from 4 years ago no longer has them, I will try to find another source when I get a chance. I remember the way I found them was to look at many listings and look for the country of origin.2H7 (79) owned since '89

So sorrry yur repair verification run din't play out like you/we all wanted it to. (•﹏• )I got three miles. Two cylinders dropped out. I believe I have a damaged connection at one of the pick-up coils. Inside where I can’t easily fix it. I believe I can replace the entire assembly. I think I have a spare.
Also, it’s time for me to address my worn clutch. I may just pull the assembly out of a parts bike.
Imma 'bout to head out onna "Soft-Serve" run myself and here's a "warm-up" video so's I got's the right feelz fOaR riding my XS. (^-^)
(I'm STILL Head-over-Heals in love wit' my XS....)
Ummm... 'bout your cable concerns. (O_o)
'Bout 12 years ago the end sort'a just slipped offa my own clutch cable. (●´⌓`●)
I did my own repair similar to wut's shown here-
O'course I got a spare eventully and even carried it wit' me on my gad-a-bouts cross the continental USA. (☉_☉)
But I ain't had to use it cuz the repaired one ain't failed yet. (ʘ‿ʘ)
Still waitin' tho.... (*′☉.̫☉)Comment
