Ranger: I don't see a starter clutch in those pictures. I just rebuilt my XS750 SC a few weeks ago (again). Maybe the kick starter parts have something that is also a clutch?-Mike

Hi fellas, I haven't updated this in a few days and I'm sorry for that. I was supposed to head out this weekend for my two week work trip but, wouldn't you know it... my well went and broke. I use a well for water and last Thursday (or maybe Wednesday, I forget) I was going for my shower and, goose eggs.. no water. I requested to be rescheduled and I've spend that last few days troubleshooting, arranging for well service, ad working on it. I was showering at the gym and basically, not really getting much done because I was otherwise engaged. Honestly, getting on line and posting was the furthest from my mind. This thing also set me back quite a bit of money so I'm a little peeved.
I did not order anything as of yet, because I thought I was going to be leaving (I usually don't order parts if I know I won't be here to receive them). I'm definitely going to go ahead with my plans for the kicker, all gaskets will be replaced and the 2nd gear fix will be done. All rubber components will be replaced as well. I will be removed the drive shaft and cleaning the heck outta that. If anyone has any tips on that, please let me know. I imagine that nothing in there will need replacing as the joint looked ok... only cleaning as far as I can tell.
I will rebuild the forks. I'll need to replace seals and also the air valve on the left side is broken, so that will have to be fixed. The speedo cable looks a bit worn so I will need to look into that. I don't like the look of that big huge speedo and tach it has for stock, so maybe someone has a suggestion for aftermarket?
I think I'm going to be here for the next few days so, unless something changes, I'm going to begin tearing into her and looking around. I also moved the empty frame off the lift and replaced it with one of my shovels, as I have to multi-task when I am able.

Love the way you have the xs11 carbs sitting next to the Harley. I had to look twice. Here is a manual you can reference for the shaft drive. It is for the xs750 but still has a lot of information that still applies. https://www.ringler.us/xs1100/ShaftDriveManual.pdf2 - 80 LGs bought one new

When repairing your second gear issue, use a machine shop such as this guy (picture is KZ1000 but he will do any gear). You can send the entire cluster or just the two facing gears and then switch the thrust washer. Cutting the dogs with a Dremel a' la YouTube makes my skin crawl. Hack artists deluxe. Those faces will never meet perfectly and you run a high risk of ruining the hard face by cutting too deep in some areas. There is no way to control damage when you grind it by hand.
