...I see a lot of them with other than factory exhaust. That exhaust looks good on there. I have seen a lot of the aftermarket that were rusted and did not look so good. I wonder if the changes from stock are by choice or for other reasons. Did you change out the stock exhaust or was it already done?
Mike
IIRC, when I got it, it had a badly rusted out exhaust system. I think I may have got this set from Andreas quite a while back. I still prefer the four into two systems but finding one in gloss black is _very_ expensive.
Hi Mike,
All farckelled (sp) up and places to GO.
Nice colour and I like the trunk

Hi Phil,
Thanks. There have been a lot of complements paid to this bike and I give full credit to the original (owner) XSive.
The story on this bike: The original owner bought it brand new. He had the dealer put on everything that Yamaha didn't. Then he had it custom painted. The painter "signed" (initialed) his work on the tank. The radio is a Midland AM-FM-Cassette-CB in a Vetter Sound box. Did not know they made those. It needs some work done to it and I am having a fun time finding someone who can/might fix it. If you look at the rear of the bike in the picture, you will see the CB antenna. It is mounted just to the rear of the left bag.
Well, the owner died and his son inherited it. Son had it stored inside for 10 years and said he cranked it once a year whether it needed it or not? He did not ride it.
After 10 years, he decides to sell it. So the next guy buys it (the one I bought it from). He spent $1400 at a Yamaha dealer getting it ride ready (I have the receipt). New tires, fluids, battery, rebuild carbs, fuel filters, etc. He hardly rode it himself - IIRC maybe a couple thousand miles if that. This guy gets in need of paying off a debt and I enter the picture. I really did not have to do much at all to ride it. I have upgraded some things, but they are not visible (Geezer rectifier, changed all those bulbs on the rear to LED, and did some direct battery grounding to the wire harness and components -a large difference this did make).
Bad part of the deal is that the bike was originally from Kansas City, MO and was there it's entire life until I went and got it. But, guess what? I would do it again tomorrow.
Been working on getting the gash fixed on the tank of The Hornet. It's too deep to get it completely out without repainting but at least it's green again.

It's been a while since I bought these emulators after reading Bikerphil's Mikesxs emulator thread so I decided to installed the them this weekend.
I had progressive springs with a 3 1/4" spacers already installed. I poured in a extra 20ml of 15w oil in each fork set the emulators at 3.5, hoping that would be a good setting with a Vetter fairing and a heavy weight rider and it was.
I wish I had done this mod sooner as it's amazing how well these things work. Well worth the time and expense.
Thanks Bikerphil !!!!

No problem bro, glad it worked out for you. I have mine set at only 2 1/2 IIRC and am running Progressive's and 30W with no fairing. I think my oil level is about 6" from the top, fully compressed.
So after a ride up to Collingwood on Georgian Bay, with BDF ,Tinman905
Phoenix and Newbie, on the way back Addie started to run rough in the lower rev range and was down on power. At Tinmans place I changed the plugs
Yes I was told and supervised I am not sure they believed I could do it Anyway that lead to concluding number one header was leaking.
So I limped home and ordered exhaust gaskets. On Sunday while I had the exhaust off i changed the oil and filter. Decided the exhaust was rather rusty and I would clean it up before installing it. Today I picked up the high temp paint and while setting up to wire wheel the rust off discovered the reason for the leak was not a failed gasket but that the flare at the end of the pipe had rotted off

Hmmm it's too bad that new chromed 4/1 that I have hanging in the garage would shame the rest of your bike .
Bring it over Phil I will replace the rusted out bits.

Drove my rescue project bike for 8 months and 2,000 miles last year with that Rabbit Wire & Zip Tie temporary headlight. (bike & I even got a few laughs at the SE 2012 Rally with the zip tie headlight and no bag lids)
Bike has been parked all 2013. Finally got the new Steering Head bearings, Vision ACCT, Excel Coils, Valves adjusted again, Caswell Blue tank liner and last but not least the Fairing installed. Rode some test miles with jetmech then got brave and went downtown Atlanta to drop off some stuff. Tonight a test ride to check out Low & High Beam and turn signals. 140 miles total and all seems OK. So far it is running nice and should be SE Rally ready. Was getting 35-37mpg highway last year and expect 36-39 now that it is running a bit stronger.
Yes, PO did a number on that right bag. Must have had some extra sandpaper laying around. Wire to right side running light was hooked up to a 100 watt equalizer (now removed) so I need to reconnect that wire. Still a few things to do but rescue bike might be a 'runner'.

Hi Jeff, Looking good. Makes that bag cry out for a rattle can of maroon paint
I finally ordered a replacement windshield for mine. it has arrive...at MartyA in Kane PA so now I have to figure out how to get it mounted before XSSE.
FOUND and bought some stainless M8 coupling nuts so I can install my exhaust. All that will have to wai as i have a Canoe Trip to Algonquin Park this week end.
