    • Checked today, still not firing on #4. Spark and compression on all. Pulled carbs, didn't find anything, did a rough cleaning put it all back together and she was happy.

Did some more on my rim before I clear it.

      • Have you got in line filters on it Nate? What kind of fuel line are you using?

It sounds like something got in there and clogged stuff up.

              • Cleaned the carbs out with canned air and carb cleaner. Reset the float height to 25.7mm. Day off from work tomorrow, will check tune and sync later on in the morning.

Rims look great. I am in the process of tidying up mine as well. Is that polished or sprayed silver?

Neither, it is just a starting wet sand of about 400 grit.

                    • Finally got the cafe project out on the highway with a buddy for a little boot and got her up to 150kms/hr...surprisingly comfortable, super stable. The half helmet and goggles gotta go, (almost hung myself with the wind). Couldn't beat my bud's 2002 ZR sport tourer, but kept up. Let him have a try on an empty stretch and he didn't come back for half an hour, when he did though, it was easy to count all his teeth by how wide he was grinning...think I've made him a convert to all things XS.

                      • Moved my ignition control unit so I could put a cut down "custom" seat on my XS11. The cowl *almost* matches too!

Then I ran into some problems. I have a Vetter luggage luggage set with trunk. The trunk has four lights, the outer two are running/brake lights. The inner two are just running lights. One died and I thought I'd replace all of them with LED lights. Got all the LED lights in and they all lit up. Pull the brake handle and all the LED lights went completely off. WTF? There has to be a brake relay involved I'm guessing but I don't see it on the wiring diagram, and I can't find it in my Clymer. I have severe headlight dimming when braking, so a complete LED brake light conversion is planned but this a stumbling block. I'm not finding much info on the relay so if anyone has any suggestions bypasses/replacements, I'm all ears/eyes! Thanks.

                        • I guess more info is necessary. Did you just swap the incandescent bulbs for LED? If so, that's your first problem.

And, that seat is interesting . . .

                          • If you swap the 4 bulbs in the trunk for LEDs, you must also swap the bulbs in the stock brake light housing and the running lights in the fairing. Since those bulbs are turn signals too, this will also require changing the rear turn signal bulbs as well. The incandescent bulbs, if left in the circuit, will draw all the juice, not leaving enough for the LEDs.

Yes, two of the 1157 lights were burnt out in the trunk so I bought 4 LED 1157 lights. I also have two 1157 incandescent bulbs in the stock tail light. What more info do you need?
