Hi Eveready,
what I do to cope with my failing night vision is not ride after dark.
Mind you, if circumstances ever forced me to ride in the dark having my own personal patch of daylight to see with would be nice.
But where does one find all that extra Wattage?
Hey Fred,
Even though the light bars state like 20x 3 Watts or 6 x 10 Watts =60 watts, they are not talking actual current draw levels! I reviewed the first one on eBayAu, and the spec sheet shows that the 60w units actually draw only 3.1 amps = ~36 watts. I would suspect that the other unit (6 x 10w) would draw a similar amount...but they didn't have an actual spec sheet. The second unit surprisingly is the same company that sells the HID projector system I used for my HID projector conversion!
I have to say that those light bars are a bit $$, and even though they look neat and have a nice illumination pattern, I wonder if mounting a pair of HID projectors might provide similar coverage?? I'll have to see if they offer these in the USA ebay.

Attempted the carb mixture adjustment/sync mentioned by Motoman/Davinci in other threads. Turned my idle down below 1100 rpm, and the carb tune bars were too jumpy to even attempt adjusting mixture screws. I ended-up re-syncing the carbs to a perfect balance, then pressure-washed the engine.

Looked at the front tire and saw some "dry" cracking between the treads on the Venturer. Checked the date on the tire and it is 7 years old. New Metzler on the way.
Pulled wheel off today along with rotor and caliper covers. Those add a lot of time to the job. Checked brake pads - original Yamaha. Showed some wear, but not worn out completely. So, while I am at it, going to replace pads, wheel seals, clean and repack speedo drive, and rebuild calipers and master cylinder. Wheel bearings are good.

+1 on that Mike, I fried mine because I neglected to do it. Had to ride back from the SE rally this year without a speedometer.
Hi Mike be gentle with the speedo cable too. I kinked mine while changing front tire to attend XSSE and had to replace it as it broke within a mile on test run.

I finally finished installing my el-cheapo mini hard saddle bags!
Cosmetically I would have preferred to move them down and forward a bit, but even with where they are, it's a bit tight for the passenger's feet.
I still need to pull them and shoot them green to match the tank, but they're out of the way for now.

The exhaust that came on the bike (may have been factory), I had the chrome stripped and painted it with VHT flame proof ceramic coating. It didn't impress me. If anything it held up more poorly than Rustoleum BBQ paint.
side covers and tank: Rustoleum color shift Gamma Green
Frame and accessories: Rustoleum hammered black
Front fork tubes and final drive: Rustoleum hammered silver
Rotors & calipers: Rustoleum hammered copper
I plan on re-painting the hammered silver stuff with the hammered copper, it goes with the brown seat a bit better...

finally got around to checking the valve clearances on my xs750. Wound up using a screwdriver to get the shims out and replaced all 3 intake and 1 exhaust. Now all my valves are within clearance. Not as near as hard as I thought it would be. The screwdriver worked really good though, didn't need to by the motion pro tool.

I'm kind of curious as to how you depressed the bucket without using the tool? Probs not something I'd ever risk doing. U can't go wrong doing things the right way.
