When I get my bike back together, I might have to try those settings. I had mine at 17psi on #2 and thought that was reasonable with my 250#. I was planning on trying higher anyway.

This setting I use does NOT promote a nice bump-absorbing, cushy Goldwing/Cadilac smooth ride. It firms things up and gives me a nice responsive ride that won't bottom out on those bad spots in the road we can't always miss. It just suits my riding style and won't be for everyone, I'm sure.

I tried it and it wasn't bad at all. Felt better than the stock shocks anyways. Feels a little floatier when you hit a bump and feels tighter on corners. With the progressive fork springs and these shocks, the bike rides real nice compared to when I got it. I'm really starting to enjoy riding this bike.

            • Maybe an occasional going-over of wiring is in order. I haven't checked this since we did an alternator swap in a hotel parking lot. I was going to swap alternator covers today and found this. Surprised it was still working...

Looks like I'll be making an order to Tony at http://www.oregonmotorcycleparts.com/

Those twisties near ES are interesting at that time of morning in the dark.

                        • Thanks, Marty. What do you think about these? They're the bullet style pins instead of the flat pins. I've had half a dozen of these flat pin connectors melt over the years. Do you think the bullet connectors would do any better?

                          • Tod,

I don't believe the round pins will make any difference. The important part is crimping the pins to the wire properly. The connection should last from now on if you protect it with some dielectric grease. The meltdown happens when corrosion gets started.

                            • I've had it happen on properly crimped pins and even soldered pins with so much dielectric grease that it squishes out the back of the plugs when put together. I just haven't had a lot of luck with those spade type connectors. Since I don't plan on unplugging the alternator a lot, I thought of just using a butt connector that has the heat shrink and epoxy that seals it up when you heat it up.

That sounds like a good option. I believe that's the fix for the failed GoldWing stator.

Is it possible one or more of your spade connectors is damaged? I had one a bit twisted in a car and it was causing nightmares up until its discovery.
