    But it's such a long ride ... <twitch><twitch>

But I could see my dad ... hmm, maybe.

Definitely have to start the trip earlier than I did last year; I'll see if they have any reservations left at the 'Horse and try to there before dark instead of doing the Dragon at night -- again!

Sorry about that! The rally was great but I guess I really wasn't a whole lot of fun when I got there. It was a rough trip; almost got killed a few times but that's still no reason to take it out on other folks.

I know and my hat's off to him -- seriously! I wish I could still do that.

I've got to many physical problems going on now along with just beginning to get older. I can't do thousand-mile days any more; that makes me angry; there's not a whole lot I can do about it; I bit off a whole lot more than I could chew when I tried to highball it to the rally last year.

If I can go this year I'm taking my time and sauntering across the country!

If I can go this year I'll pay more attention to the road and less attention to the scenery.

I hope we can both make it. We didn't really get a chance to get acquainted last year. My bad.

As of this morning there are 6 semi private rooms remaining. There are 6 bunkhouse beds remaining. The lower half of Rocky Top cabin is available. It has 2 rooms that share a bath.

It was a long day. We have called it quits in Silva, NC.

Doesn't matter, I was still tired and in a mood when I got there. And bless the folks at the Lodge that held dinner for me even though I was, like, totally late!

Sorry about that Ben, That was my first Long Distance ride and my carbs malfunctioned about 45 mins left to go, so I had spent about an hour on the side of the road pulling them to find out I had a stuck float.
So, that Friday I was a bit exausted.
I promise that this year I'll be more friendly.

No problems George...i figured you didnt have a good ride...but i almost avoided you completely after that...wasn't until that sunday ride did I realize you were an alright fellow after all...A few things about last year i hope I dont repeat again this year. One, I dont get hypoglycemic while i'm riding and two, hope I dont blast to the front to stop traffic in both directions to pass some feeble handicapped idiot who cant drive over 25 mph Hope that we can stay on relatively traffic free routes as well...
Now the real challenge this year...i have no working hearing aid(s) so if I go without them i wont be hearing a single word...that can get old very quickly...I'm working on it but be aware that I am coming regardless if i can hear the BS or not...heh heh heh... Of course some people already know some sign language...Right DuWayne???

That move might have been a little crazy, but it sure as hell impressed me!
and I think, thanks are in order from all of us that were on that ride.

                    • I just home ad saw the XS Southeast traffic. Those who have been coming to this rally will be pleased that routes for 2014 are as fresh as we can make them. Our Saturday loop is over the Cherohala followed by new pavement in Tennessee. Traffic won't be an issue as we've taken Great Smoky Mountain National Park off the table. (You may still go there if you wish.) And yes, a lot of the pavement is actually new. The Sunday route is going to be a thriller that takes us to Hot Springs, NC for lunch. You'd best wake up fresh on Sunday morning for this one! The return trip leaves options open, so stand by for Jeff to fill you in when the time comes.

Keep in mind that because of the Iron Horse location, repeating some roads is unavoidable, but since they're so much fun, I'm sure you won't mind. Your host at the Iron Horse, John Powell, has been actively lobbying government to maintain the roads because of all the motorcycle tourism in the area. It's great to know that as we support his business, he is actively supporting our chosen leisure activity. You'll notice more improvements to the grounds this year.

I look forward to a great turnout in the fall. In the meantime, XS East is up next. I hope to see some of you there!

I snagged a room at the Iron Horse for Friday and Saturday; ride Sunday and then split for Kentucky or however it works out.

I figure I'll leave two weeks early and take the time to enjoy the trip instead of doing the red-eye thing. Now I need to find the t-shirt thread.

The Sunday ride is going to be fantastic. We'd love to have you stay Sunday night, but if not, Hot Springs, NC will have you that much farther north.

Jeff will start the tee shirt thread once that project is complete, and it's very close. We'll let everyone on this thread know it's up.

FWIW, in case we have a washout day, (it has happened before) the Wheels Through Time museum is 45 miles away on good highway. It is an amazing collection and displayed like none other.

I can vouch for the WTT museum. Been there a couple of times and will go back as there is too much to see in one or two visits. Have seen owner Dale Walksler (Dad) and Matt (son) one of those times. They are doing another season of "What's in The Barn".

On each occasion they have been very accommodating and have started and run several really old bikes on display inside of the very big building. Matt rode one through the building on one visit. Most of the bikes are (very old) HD and Indian, and there is so much more to see.

Makes our "vintage " Yamahas babes in the woods...heh heh I think it would be awesome if a group of us on our XS/XJs' showed up at WTT.
