I am on both of these FB groups. I feel REALLY smart there because other than other .com or .org members most of the people there are clueless.

Is this rally info being shared at XS11.org? I assumed it was, but I do remember what Benny Hill said about ASS-U-ME!

Most everyone there is aware of the rally but I'll post a link.

          • Assuming Brent will be there with his big tent so I can stay in it again this year. From what I saw of the rooms from the one Harry and Tod stayed in, they are over priced and under sized. They almost had to sleep together LOL.

            • Yeah the rooms are a tad small but still more comfortable than sleeping in the ground...plus I always have to get up in the middle of the note to go to the bathroom....The Tuskegee is much cheaper...but it is an older place and 5 miles away from the IH..so there's always the ride back after leaving the IH for the night....

                • When paying the price of admission at the Iron Horse, please consider the whole package. There's the lodge, meals on site, covered parking, a comfortable meeting area, and on and on. If you choose to sleep in a tent, you get all this for $15 a night! They're doing it right as it's full nearly every weekend.

If you haven't made reservations, don't wait any longer.

If you want to sit in your room and watch TV, you need to stay someplace else. It's a motorcycle resort and we go there for fellowship more than anything else.

I hope to see you there!

Just discussing the accommodation Marty. This ain't our first rodeo.

My advice? Don't order the ham for breakfast.........SUPER salty.

                    • Certainly, like anyplace else, it has it's shortcomings. Just now discussing the subject with my wife. (She doesn't like the breakfast.) I think most of them can be overlooked.

I certainly miss the meals at TWO!

Greg, that's country ham. It's supposed to be that salty.

                      • Marty pls know that I am considering the whole package...I like the place and splitting the costs of a nice room and bathroom are well worth it. In many ways I wish we could return to the new TWO...but for a group as large as we anticipate this year..the IH can accommodate us much better...

They use extra salt curing when no real refrigeration is available in the backwoods, just cool cellars.

                          • One year I ordered their Prime Rib for a dinner and it was way to seasoned for me...too much salt and did raise my BP...it actually did affect my riding and moods during the rally...I have found the salmon dinner to be a better choice. This year I plan to call them about a more salt restrictive diet...

Have you considered a bunkhouse bed? I think they come pretty inexpensive.

Two Wheels of Suches is getting high marks from those who stay there. It has the old lodge upstairs, and four new cabins and a new bathhouse. I had lunch there yesterday. Dinner on Friday only. The lodge closed yesterday at 4P. Dinner has to be in Dahlonega or Blairsville. (or farther away)

They're hosting a swap meet on 9 Aug. It's free to all comers.

Meanwhile, I'm wondering how many are coming to the rally.

                              • if you mean the bunkhouse at the IH yes...the first year we were there i stayed in one of the bunkhouses...i wasnt keen on the cot bed...and i didnt get good sleep there...
I like what I have been seeing and hearing on the net about the new TWO...if they built a few more cabins I'd bet they could accomodate us...however I dont think their kitchen could...
