  • Hmmm.... I don't recognize all of the road names, but you're close. I have a turn by turn saved, but I can't post it until I/we ride it again. It may need tweaking and I need to memorize it. We'll encourage you to have a copy, especially for those who may wish to ride in their own small groups.

The only way to guestimate how many are coming is by shirt sales and FB responses. We're not there yet. The shirt design I showed off at XS East has been tweaked significantly, at least partly based on feedback and largely based on Jeff's ambition. He's doing all the graphics and he keeps getting better. I'm expecting record attendance.

      I can't wait!
By George, that's pretty darn close. You can be an official certified group leader and run that route you got. I pulled up my google maps and gps files to compare. Here are the slight differences.

      Saturday corrections:
      a) At the end of Old Federal I go Left out to pitstop on Hwy 68 (in case somebody needs a pit stop because there are only bushes after that for over an hour +). b) On Hwy 68 south turn Left on Bethlehem Rd out to join Big Creek. c) off Hwy 72 Left on Big Gully. Otherwise, that's it. For the tourist rider bunch I have added Sequoyah Birthplace off TN360 before Vonore. Sequoyah is interesting story.

      Sunday corrections:
      a) Quick gas and pit stop (to accommodate those needing either or both) before getting on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Just past Sylva exit 85. On Steeple Rd. It says BP but it is actually an Exxon. b) Off Old Newfound turn Left on Rabbit Ham (just for the halibut too odd to pass up; gotta try it) also a real nice road then out Green Valley Rd. After lunch at Hot Springs people can do what they want going back to I-H. Probably something like you are showing. Otherwise, that's it.

Wanted a different twist this year and get the group more into Tennessee and ride Cherohala and in TN on Saturday. Challenge as always is lining up a sequence of fun to ride roads with great scenery and avoiding as much traffic as we can.

            • XS Southeast will be here sooner than later. For those who have never attended, we offer some of the best pavement you're ever going to ride. We're talkin' smooth pavement and breathtaking vistas. For 2014, a good bit of the route is freshly repaved. The Ironhorse has amenities to suite almost everyone. It's a great place to host a rally. Plan to come and see what it's all about! Your friends are going to be there. Let us know you're coming!

If you do, you will be sorry you didn't join us for the whole thing! 3Phase rode his XS all the way from California last year and he's coming back! We have a lot of repeat offenders from Ontario, South Florida, Texas, and many points in the Midwest. Last year we had over 50 riders and 22 XS1100's. I have no doubt we will exceed that this year.

                      Please join in the fun!

                        • Marty, I shut down my Facebook account -- too much "noise" and not enough information.

The noise always came though Lima Charlie (Games, "Likes", Pokes, "Shares", SPAM, and so on) but I missed five or six very important events that I didn't know about until one of my friends used an obscure antique device that used to be known as a "telephone."

                              • Bill, I'm going to try to be at my Dad's in Kentucky again but I'm not sure if it'll be before the rally, after the rally, or both. It'd be nice to make it all the way back East without all the stupid drama this time: not enough gas stations along with two tire showers and a few homicidal suicide drivers. Did I mention there weren't enough gas stations?

Marty, I found that XS11 group right before I deactivated my Facebook account but it looks really good!

For a little less stress on your 'net connection, your browser, and your mind, try the mobile version of Facebook. It doesn't have all of the heavily loaded pages with the dancing bears and singing dolphins of the 'regular' Facebook pages:- https://m.facebook.com/xssoutheast

FWIW: there's a similar XS11 Facebook group that looks like it has/had some of the .org folks in it and another one that seemed to have UK/Euro riders. Three Facebook XS11 groups, the USA .com and .org sites along with those funny furrin' Aussie and UK sites is plenty! There's got to be at least one South America site around somewhere too for the occasional times when they feel like wrenching and riding instead of playing soccer.

                                .
