  • Hey Dennyz,
No I dont know any place to camp (or are you talking cheap motels?) around Thompson Falls personally, but a lot of the people I work with, camp in Idaho and Montana. So I will talk to some of them and see if I can get a heads up for you. That is beautiful country all through north Idaho ,Montana ,and even eastern Wa.Should be a great ride.

    • Dennyz,
As far as stopping the 1st night, do you mean in the town of Oroville?

I found several places to camp at:

      OSOYOOS LAKE STATE PARK

      Spectacle Lake Resort

        • SWMBO and I have been a bit of google searching for accommodation that might work for this venture. She and I are not equipped for camping, but we realize some folks prefer to spend the off night on the ground. So far, we've come up with the following:

          Thompson Falls, MT
          - Rimrock Lodge and RV Park

          Cambridge, OR
          - Frontier Motel and RV Park

          Lakeview, OR
          - Hunters Hot Spring Resort (motel and RV park) or

          - Fremont Inn (motel)
          - Mile-High Campground (approx 3 blocks from Fremont)

          Bandon, OR
          - Wayside Motel and RV Park

For those who do like/prefer to camp, do these RV options look like they would accommodate motorcycle campers?

            • Hi Tony, the only Bandon I can see on our trip is just west of Portland. Speaking for my self, I would suggest at this point in time we won't even know what day we will pass through there let alone what hour of the day. This is a looonnnng road trip on bikes. Anything can happen. I know we will keep on trucking and overcoming our problems as we go but???
Were you planning on joining us or just wanting to do a bunch of; "do you remember whens?"
Love to see you and shoot the breeze at a gas stop/lunch stop for a few minutes but we have a long way to go and every minute at the side of the road is another mile down the road lost/to be made up later.
Maybe see you on the road.

              • Perhaps I read the map wrong but it looked like there was an overnight stop on the southern Oregon coast and I thought that spot was Bandon. Anyway I can't make the entire run but I thought I catch up with you guys around there...

                • Tony, if you go to the proposed trip map:

                  http://www.dennyzander.com/image_map.jpg

You will see that we are going north on #101. The closest we get to Bandon is about 50-80 miles west of there.

                  • I don't know that area very well, what is the place marked with a crescent moon on the southern Oregon coast?

I figured I could make it there from my in-laws place in a couple hours. I still don't know if I'll be riding alone or if my wife will be riding along.

Altamont or Eugene, I believe that the 1/4 moons are Denny's coding for overnight stops. But by that time on the trip we may be well out of sequence of the initial proposed stops. Who knows, Jeremy has some roads in southern Oregon that he wants us to run/show us. We may or may not still be on the original proposed route at that time.
This is a bike trip. We are; "in the wind" who knows were it will blow us.
I believe plans are in the works to up date this thread daily by cell phone/text messaging. If you check back each day during the trip, to this thread you will get some idea of our progress.

                        • I selected some different places to spend the night that might offer more selection.

I hope this does not mess up anybodies plans. If it does, we can always adjust things.

                          • Coos Bay/Bandon - Lakeview

I have moved the Bandon stop up to Coos Bay. Is this OK with every one?

                            Geezer,

Hard to tell when we will get there. Expect us in the early afternoon.

                            Question:

There is not much going on in Lakeview and I have us stopping there for 2 night. It may make more sense to move the rest day to Coos Bay. There is a real nice day (200 mi) that would be fun to run.
