  • Thank you Mike for the measurements! Boltdepot also has a conversion chart so it should be dummy proof next time I walk in the fastener store to shop for bolts

              Blank Slate,
I've been following along (from the sidelines) and your bike is looking EXTREMELY GREAT.

RE: The Yamaha recessed lettering.... For what it's worth.... I spray a little puddle of rattle can paint into the spray can cap and then use a tooth pick to drip some into the cover lettering (off the bike on a work table) and spread it into all the nooks & crannies with the tooth pick. Let it dry a couple hours and put it back on.... That's what I do....

              Respectfully,

              • Thank you Kurt, Nice tip Too. I will try it on the alternator cover, the circle surrounding the lettering needs some black.

I had quite the adventure putting a throttle sleeve into my fancy chrome grips. First sleeve broke off, 2nd ended up slicing my finger, but I am persistent and finally shaved off an inch off the bottom end to make it fit.

I guess it is a bit late for this, but I add washers to the hand grips tofill the gap. It also makes bar end weights. This seems to help with bar vibration as well as fills the gap between bar end and grip end.

we left the carbs off so you can get the back of the motor to look like this. Stop typing and get back to work!

                          • Started cleaning the towers with some bio friendly paint stripper. It's more of a degreaser imo. I sprayed it and brushed btwn the teeth.

All kidding aside, your doing a great job. But you have all winter, so take it from me, look after your domestic responsibilities first, then sneek out for an hour or two when she is engrossed in a chick flick or shopping. But as far as her 650 is concerned, have her do some of the work herself. Thats all part of owning and riding a bike. You have to train them OR they will train you!
