    • after two calendar years, a few thousand$ in parts, many hours of part searching, sometimes i bought the right part, sometimes not, many twists and turns, lost parts, broken parts, seized rusty parts, we finally got the bike roaring after a five year coma.

thanks to the xs11 community for convincing me not to sell the 11.

Mack has so much knowledge of these bikes, he showed me what to do and why to do it. i hope i can remember half of what he said.

      here is the sweet sound:

Once you get the flasher relay replaced, I want you to try to bleed out some air out of that rear brake caliper, It may only be a couple small bubbles but you'll feel the pedal stiffen right up. Then readjust the foot pedal to Jims specs like I showed you. I'm not really happy with how it felt to me.

Fixed the flasher relay with a 2 prong part from Canadian tire. $8.
I went for the first ride of 2017 today and almost didn't get out of the garage. The clutch was stuck, when I put it in first gear it would just die. So I read the thread called Clutch Problems, where all you guys said to just roll the bike and put it in gear and it worked! Bike is powerful, steady. Two issues I had was towards the end of my ride I tried going from 1st to 2nd gear and I'd end up in neutral instead. Also, while I was parking the bike, when I turned the handlebars all the way left the throttle was getting yanked on and it was fully open! Other than that bike is a dream.

            • Check your throttle cable routing. If it isn't correct, it can pull and cause your issue. You may have to take the tank off so you can check it from end to end. Also, make SURE you have the Special cable, NOT the standard!
Glad you had a chance to ride it!

thanks Ray. i got the throttle fixed sort of. i loosened the nut (or so i thought) and turned on the bike and it was open full throttle! shut it off, tightened the nut back to where it was, and now the throttle has no issues when i turn the handlebars left. i can feel a little more RPM's when i turn left all the way but the tach needle doesn't move, so i can live with it as is.

                    • oil leaking out of the area where i circled and onto my headers . i took off the head cylinder and retorqued the bolts. gasket looked fine, but maybe i need to jb weld or permatex thae inside with glue to stop the leak.

in the other picture, oil is leaking from the front hole. i dont know what it's called, what it's purpose is, or how to stop the oil from coming out.

                      • For the cam plugs, remove them and smear some RTV around the edges. They tend to shrink over time from heat. As for the cam chain tensioner, clean the oil off and put a glob of RTV over the end.

                        • Better option for both those leaks is to remove cam plug, clean or replace with new and apply a good film of High Temp Gray silicone sealer. For cam chain tensioner, replace with self adjuster from a V-4 Yammy Venture and many other bikes using a cam chain self-tensioner. Cam chain self tensioners have a large list that work great, and are listed here with a link to access. Someone here I'm sure will chime in with that link and list. Myself, used the previous suggestions some 7yrs. prior with not so much as a weep, and self-adjuster has never been touched and cam chain stays tight.....always. BTW, Duplicolor you show IS the best option for durability as far as used as a touch-up paint.

I went with this option. I had RTV on me and am kind of sick of ordering parts. Sorry Motoman
