My center stand is bent. See pic below. I was going to put it in a vice grip but I doubt I have strength to bent it back. I thought about hammering away at it but that could damage it. Suggestions? It was bent when I got it new. Prob should have returned it then.

Your centerstand looks normal to me, what makes you think it's bent??

Here are a couple of photos of that similar style stand, and it looks just like yours.



This lower picture is of mine after I extended them a few inches due to my extended front fork tubes and the higher position my frame sits vs. OEM.



The part that you push down on with your foot is supposed to have that bend in it to allow it to fit up around the STOCK exhaust pipe that would normally be on that side! Without it, you have a big space there, and so that part of the stand can look BENT, but it's how it's supposed to be!

My stand might be all right, I thought it had a bend because the bar doesnt lay flat on the ground like other centerstands I've seen. But the bike is stable so maybe I shouldn't worry.

Well, now we can see what you're talking about. But you're right, the two foot pads should be touching the ground. It looks like someone really hefted on the foot lever portion one time trying to get the bike up on the CS and did bend it a bit!? You could take it off and mount it in a vice, and then get a nice long piece of pipe, or a large/wide deep socket and extension(s) to give you some leverage and fit over the foot lever pad and then bend it back just enough to allow the CS base footpad to be able to make contact and not the foot lever pad.

I've been having fun with paint, been doing the frame bit by bit with this stuff. Not sure how long it will last but the black gloss is to my liking.

Yikes!. Bend it up cold(no heat) by slipping a piece of pipe large enough to go over the foot piece. Slip it up close to where the normal bend is and pull up on the pipe till centerstand piece hits the floor before the foot piece does. Gradually rock against the part your bending so the metal molecules have a chance to move with the bend. This is done that way so as not to weaken where bend takes place. Just some advice from a certified welder and metal urgeast training. I'd get a bit of help holding right side of bike. Also, when correctly on centerstand it's normal for majority of these 11's to be of center a half a bubble set across the top of the four carbs. No concern unless checking actual bowl fuel levels, which entails a small piece of rubber belting under right side of stand to square it up.

Resist nicks and scratches VERY well! masking off the outer polished portion of wheel,again an excellent choice of paint! Dupli-Color is hard to beat, especially for your touch up choices! BTDT!

I got the nastiest migraine yesterday after spending a half hour painting the wheels with no mask. Lesson learned the hard way.

Re: the centerstand. If someone helps me hold the bike up on the right side, I can attempt to bend the bar with it still attached to the bike? That would be convenient because it was hard work getting that spring on.

Mack: 180 degrees you say... I knew that. Just seeing if you were paying attention

I would just get another centerstand. I have tried to straighten one before and it is not an easy task. For sure I would not try straightening it on the bike and risk damaging the frame mounting tabs. JMHO
