      seat done

i was able to work on the bike this weekend, that is until i got some metal in my eye from grinding (i did have on safty glasses), and had to go to the emergancy room. they got it all out. back to the project. I did get alot done this weekend, non the less. first i got my fender mount welded on, not much just a piece of straight bar with two holes drilled in it and welded to the frame so that the fender can be attached.

      just under the crossbar

nest i welded in the the cross bar just in front of the fender as seen in the pics above.
then i moved to the pivot point for the seat. the solo seat mount that i bought from a local shop bolts onto the mount without a hitch. It doesnt look like much but i took some time to fab all the pieces and make sure everything lined up just right.

got the fender and seat mounted (i have to make a new seat the original one i made is to small thats the one in the pics)

here is a side profile with the seat and fender mounted.

      getting closer.

i still need to add some fender struts, do the wireing, some paint then she should be ready to take out for a spin.

Looks like progress in the direction you are wanting to go. Its not the look or style I go for but I appaud the creativity. Be careful cutting from now on You cut the bike and the bike cuts you back
To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.

Personally I think that is a very poor mirror setup. You would have to look way to far down to actually use the mirror and at that point your eyes are to far from the road ahead. Seems more like a "i need a mirror to be legal so here it is but I don't want it" setup.

Form over function does not score highly in my book when it comes to safety items.

that is why i am trying to get some feedback, i hadnt thought about having to look down to look at the mirror, thanks. the main reason i liked that one was that it was different. i just dont want some big mirrors, and i am trying to keep the front clean.

thanks, i have looked at some of your builds and if i can make mine look half as good as your builds i will be very happy. this is my first build and i am taking it slowly so that i dont screw anything up, even though i cant wait to ride it, i dont want to rush it either. thanks again.

got started on the battery box today, i didnt have much time to work on it so i got the base cut out and welded together. not sure what i am gonna use for the sides of the battery box yet but i have a few ideas. i will post a pic later of the beginnings of the battery box.

                              Hi John,
a touch on the sturdy side, innit? Unless it's also going to be part of something structural.
BTW, think about using bar end mirrors.

yes it is going to be part of something structural, I am cutting out a section of crossbar that runs just above the swing arm pivot, so that i can have the battery box as low as possible. and this part of the battery box gets welded in place of the section of cross bar. also i did think of bar end mirrors but the grips are crome spike grips and they wont work with bar end mirrors. dont really want to change the grips, because i am gonna use the spikes as a theme for the bike, spike bolt covers spike axel bolt covers, and so on.
