I personally think spikes have been done to death. Along with swords, door knobs, dice, six gun anything, tribal paint, flat black, big metal flake, FLAMES, lace, whitewalls, red rims, ammo can battery boxes, and wrapped exhaust. But that's just me!

Is there anything else you're thinking of doing, that I can tell you is uncool?

just something i like, and its the look that i am going for. i want to see if i can get the look of a custom built bike that someone spent tens of thousands of dollars on, but do it on a shoe string budget.

Don't mind Joe, he is just sad that his bike is in boxes and unusable!
I would think that seeing CLEARLY who is bout to pancake your backside would take priority over spiked bar-ends.............but some seem to think they are still invinsible.......

Just my thought Fred. With all those spikes round the bike, you may find just getting on and off normally will end up a bit like playing hackeysack with a porcupine. Careful how you climb on and off or you might end up getting a spike to the boys. imagine THAT trip to ER.

it wont be that many spikes, i am just gonna have a few here and there and in places that wont interfere with riding, just suttle. i have seen bikes with them all over and i dont like that. that would be hard to explain to the people at the er.

i am putting mirrors on but i just dont like the bar end mirrors for the style i am going for, when i build my wifes cafe racer, that will have bar end mirrors on it. I am just looking for suggestions on types of mirrors that people might have seen. i just want something simple and clean looking. I know how important mirrors are on a bike, and wouldnt ride where i live without them.

You could do something like this....

[IMG][/IMG]

This was a pair of cheap 'universal' mirrors with custom-bent stems made from 3/8" rod. Biggest hassle was threading the ends.

You can still get them new from Yamaha (about $60 list price), otherwise you'll need to look for good used. This part was used on all the shaft-drive bikes '77-82 (750, 850 as well as the 1100), so there's some out there...

Hi Nightengale,
what my BSA has is a wire loop welded to it's battery tray back and front just tall enough to get a sheetmetal hook into. A rubber strap with hooks on it's ends goes up and over the battery to hold it down.
BTW, your hardtailed frame is not beyond salvage. When your stern can't take the pounding any more, cut out those struts that diagonal across the battery, weld forks on the ends and put a pair of really stubby shocks in there.
