I was going to rebuild the brakes today but got side tracked and ended up just continuing to put parts on the bike and nearly completed the electrical. So far I have managed to stick to the all SS socket head hardware theme with only the occasion bolt not being in my assortment but a list is being made as I go. it also looks like I will have to do some custom work to the left hand side rear foot peg support because the frame reinforcement bracket on the outside of the frame will interfere with the fitting of that part. Tomorrow I will be at the paint stripper again to try to remember everything that’s left to be stripped so all painting can be completed in one shot when painting starts again. As usual ... more pics.

Even the small screws like on the back side of the pilot box are SS socket head. The small fine thread ones are actually easier to find then the big ones because all the small ones are fine thread .

Got about an hour and a half in on the front wheel. I think I will glass bead it .. Be much faster but non the less it's looking pretty good...

Yes, Definitely happy Birthday Rob. I have been watching your build. That is going to be one beautiful bike. I would think you could counterbore that front peg hole up to @ 0.5" and add a spacer the same thickness between the bracket and the frame at the rear...JAT

I was looking at options but to move that peg support out far enough will lead to running out of engine through bolt length for the added distance. I think when it's all said and done it will be faster to just hollow out the back side of the entire peg support.Yes, Definitely happy Birthday Rob. I have been watching your build. Yes I am thinking I will likely go forward with the ZRX swing arm set up. The other kit appears to use 2 bearings but one of them is toast and it or they are pressed into the casing and onto the shaft so replacement is going to be an issue that might be best left to a machine shop.

When I first installed my Chain-drive, I had the Jardine 2-1's on each side and I had to grind on mine some too. You will get a much sportier ride out of the ZRX swingarm. It is one of the lightest swingarms I have ever held and super strong too.....MDRNF

The ZRX swing arm is in deed a lot lighter then the swing arm that came with the other kit. However I am somewhat concerned about shock length and rear brake set up. More so about rear brake set up then shock length. I'm going to have to go through that thread again and find the info I need on both those issues. If the bearing on the other one was not toast it would have been "plug and play"

Shocks
I found that the 14.25" shocks from a KZ1000 are a very good alternative to the ZRX shocks.... I also Sent Scappod a Spare front brake line from a Hayabusa, It was plug "n" play on the rear. Are you going to use the stock XS11 caliper and hanger?
Are you using an XS650 Rear wheel?

Well this is the stuff I still have to sort out because I have already bought the tires and was intending to use the standard size rear wheel. I also already have normal length Progressive rear shocks and SS brake lines for the rear end. That being said I do if nothing else have the chain drive conversion parts that fit the standard rear wheel so I may be able to mix and match and still use the 17 inch rear wheel so long as shimming can plant that wheel where it needs to be. I can also likely figure out something for the standard brake set up but would likely need a longer SS brake line. I think your middle gear conversion puts the chain out further then this other unit but I have to look at all the parts carefully.I found that the 14.25" shocks from a KZ1000 are a very good alternative to the ZRX shocks.... You can cut down and add spacers to the ZRX axle all day. You can also add spacers to go between the XS650 rear sprocket and wheel (or any other wheel for that matter)..... The Hardware store sells washers just the right I.D. for the ZRX and XS11 axle in different thicknesses also.....MDRNF

That's the other issue. I have an axle for the ZRX swing arm but will I be able to find the right bearings that fit both the wheel and axle white taking into account that "special" bearing it the rear of the 17 inch standard wheel. There's a few things to sort out before I put it together. finding time during the normal week week to hit all these specialty shops is an issue as well. They are for the most part not open on weekends.You can cut down and add spacers to the ZRX axle all day. You can also add spacers to go between the XS650 rear sprocket and wheel (or any other wheel for that matter)..... Yes, You can make it work for sure. You can source different size bearings and shim accordingly.....Anything is possible.....I've already jerked out a 2.5L 4 cylinder Porsche motor and replaced it with a 5.3l CHEVY V8..........I 've done some bearing swaps/conversions to the drivetrain already.MDRNF
