BTW - refresh me on what you did to your calipers - glass beaded and clearcoated?
Yes, I will have to do the tail cowl badge as well. I could, I suppose, live with the gold badges if thee were some other gold accents on the bike. Perhaps gold rotor bolts, maybe gold for the "YAMAHA" on the engine cases. I will think about it before i do anything drastic :-)
All the alloy parts, wheels, brake parts etc, were glass beaded and or where wheeled, clear coated and baked in the oven.

    • This thread is close to dead

Given that I will not road this bike this fall I took care of some loose ends after installing and pin stripping the fairing. I tested a badge painting the other day and it looks like this is the way I will go. What a job taping them off to paint. I used chrome paint but it did not turn out shiny. That's OK given that there really isn't anything shiny on the bike other then the fenders. Pics as usual.

I removed the flat alloy caliper torque bar and made a proper one from steel tubing.

The small fairing looks good and will do a decent job with the wind.

5 foot away appearance. Test badge looks OK at this distance

She's a skinny ass-ed bike to say the least. Maybe that's what I should call she "Skinny Ass"

      Just a pic

      • She is a beautiful bike man!! I am sorry to hear you can get her on the road just because of some bureaucratic BS!

        • Wow, that is a pretty bike!! Alot of attention to detail and making every little part new again. It is amazing how many little things there are.

I actually just got back from the MOT. It took an hour and a half to get the frame and therefore the bike put into my name. The only thing they didn't do was take finger prints LOL. It's also listed as fit /un-plated so I managed to save the safety that I had done on her.
Insurance is however out of reach until the new year but I will be running her up there street at least a few times before the snow flies.
