Rob, I've gone back over your thread -- awesome build! and I may have misread what you've done but I don't see where or why you removed the internal spacer from the rear wheel.
There shouldn't be any torque on the bearings without a spacer. It will side-load the inner races against the balls and needles and they're not designed for it. It will work for a while but the bearings will destroy the the inner edge of the races unless they're held in position with the correct spacer.
