  • The 0.1mm either side(0.2mm on yours) lets the 30mm bevel/sprocket slide easily on the shaft buts still fits snugly, CHEERS FOR THE YEAR.

    • R1 Monoshock Done

Went quite well, as you can see, I have to relocate battery. Finished Custom spacers to fit R1 shock to Triumph Linkage. Custom spacer on upper shock.Just have everything tac-welded and All geometries are Identical to the Triumph's,and the swingarm sits at the same angle as the xs11 without the rider. With the lower linkage design, I can even keep the Center Stand if I want, but another benefit of the Single Sided Swing-Arm is you can change the tire without a centerstand....we'll see....next is what battery to use. Can a car battery be put on or is there a cranking amp limit?....chop

      • or is there a cranking amp limit?.

        NO, but.........
an "oversize battery" if drained could damage wires or charging system. 220 amp battery good, but would not go much more.

I've got a P22f monitor and your pics require a lota scroll

        • Chop,
Check some of the "sealed" gel type batteries. You should be able to find one with plenty of cranking power, and it may be smaller than the stock battery. The down side is it may cost about $150 just for the cranking ability.

i have a gel type on the blue streak and have'nt any problems in 3 years. I want to fit one between the fender posts and weld a battery box tomorrow. So what cranking amp should I go for, Biggest possible for a motorcycle?

              • Hi Chop, here's my take on the battery.

I just put a lawn tractor battery on mine, they are smaller than a car battery, come in various cranking amp ratings, and in the spring are extremely affordable. I paid 15.99 for mine.

Any time they go bad you can go to any town with a walmart and you are set.

I welded in some brackets, I can send pics if you like.

                Just my .02,

                Dan

                • The battery is secondary issue at this point. How is the chain path through the entire range of swingarm motion? Does it foul the lower angle iron brace can't see it in these pictures? On the upper shock mount why not eliminate the R1 upper clevice and the square tube "in between" piece and lower the upper angle iron brace the same amount? What you need to mount the upper end of the shock is two flat tabs welded to the angle brace (to be honest I would use a round tubing on these instead of the angle stock. Lowering the upper mount would give a lot more room for a battery above the shock. sealed gel batteries can be laid flat on their side. Best of luck
                  Cheers, 50gary

Is the rear spring rate from the Triumph and R1 the same?

don't know, but will change spring on R1 if I have to. I just finished the battery relocate. Will be an Odysey sealed battery For a 30L harley model whatever. It fits perfect between the fender posts. Next to do custom fiberglass pieces....chop
