    • I don't know if that size is available, I'm just saying try one just undersized on the OD, and put a shim in the neck.

        • angular contact

Engineering question...Wondering if I can use the Hayabusa Upper half of the angular contact ball-bearing and let it ride on the xs11's upper race? It is a great fit....and really won't be holding the weight

          • Bearings and their races are machined to fit new. IF you use a bearing and race that are NOT matched, the bearing MAY wear much faster than normal. If it's smooth, and seems to be a good fit, just use a good grease (I like synthetic) and go for it.

            • infamous Octopus

Well, I got my tank today and looks very nice. I will have to put some kind of in line petcock to the carbs later. Does the xs11 special octopus only open up from the carbs suction. Would be nice to figure out a way not to use a petcock at all....chop

                  Hey Chop,

Normally I would just go in and delete the extra ones, but once a thread gets this long, it's a real PITA because the default mode when I select to Delete Posts is to be set to YES, and I would have to go thru all 15 pages and click on the radio buttons to set ALL of the other messages to NO to save them, except for the 2 extra ones you posted! So..I editted this one, so there's only 1 extra, no biggie!

yes regarding your question on the special octopus.

When the special petcock is in ON or RES, fuel flows directly to the octopus. When the octopus has vacuum, the diaphram will open and allow fuel to flow to the carbs (WHEN the octopus is functioning correctly).

Also, when the special petcock is in PRI, the fuel flow will bypass the octopus and flow directly to the carbs.

Easiest solution is to remove the octopus completely since the special petcock has a true OFF position. Of course, the front petcock nipple (PRI) would not be used and should be blocked off.

                        Hi XSChop,

I'm fitting FI to my XS and needed a return line into the tank. I wanted something easy and bolt on. This is what I used:

                        Pingel Adapter Plate A1602C HERE
                        90° Hose Fitting 229-8-6 HERE

The hose fitting screws directly into the adapter plate giving a straight connection in or out of your tank.

                        Brgds, Shappers.

PS. Just remembered. That adapter plate is for the Sport & Special size taps. If you have a standard you will need one of the bigger adapter plates.

                          • chop,

while it should be possible to run from the tank straight to the special octopus, I would be more concerned with a) the octopus does not flow fuel without vacuum (ie engine running), which MAY make starting much more difficult; and b) the special octopus is far less reliable than a valve.

I'd probably look for an appropriate sized fuel valve from a larger riding mower.

                            • I would junk the octopus and use an inline fuel valve (also pingle).

It's not an XS tank but I'm sure that Pingle have an adapter to fit the tank. If not they do a blank version where you can drill your own holes.
