Anyone know what the diameter of this drive is? LOOKS like it may fit the xs shaft. the part states that it is a transmission pulley for a 79-84 BIG TWIN....I didn't want to say the "H" word....chop

Hey Chop,
Looking at a belt drive huh? I have done a liitle research in this area and most front(transmission) belt pulleys for the big V twins is about 6" diameter. I have found some smaller ones at about 4" for some old (80-85) Kaws like a KZ 750 or something that used a belt. But I gave up on the idea cause of clearance issues with the frame and a 1 1/2" belt and I couldn't find a pulley small enough to clear the starter. The only way I could see to do it was to run it outside the frame. That involves to much engineering for me . Good Luck

That would be pretty wild
single sided swingarm with a open belt drive I dont think that has ever been done

So is the body of the swingarm on the right as if sitting on it? Unless your axle spins, how do you get around the swingarm?

the swingarm "arm" is on the left. So a spacer can be used to move the sprocket out as far as the attachment bolts can be found...It really is the ideal situation, belt or chain....chop.....2nd large pic page 10
just before I read your post I saw that the sprocket is on the outside of the swing arm. That is wicked, You cann go as fat as the middle gear shaft will let ya.

Hey chop,
What kind of wheel do you have to use with that single side swing arm? It cant be a regular one. And if you were to go wider, does any one make a wide wheel for a single side SW?

same triumph wheel as the swingarm. it's in the beggining pics somewhere. I believe that the VFR swingarm is the way to go for a 250, maybe 300 pushing the envelope. Whatever you do, you would have to get the rim widened. BUT the VFR swingarm/wheel is put on with 4 LUGS compared to the triumph's large locking nut. It looks like a Honda CIVIC/Acura wheel could bolt right up....now there's some possibilities......1 more thing, I personally like the 98-up vfr swingarms because they are More rigid than the earlier ones.....And they are 22.5" eye to eye compared to 17" xs11 S/A.....

Hey Chop, I got a quick question for ya, Do you know what the distance from the inside edge of your tranny sprocket to centerline is gonna be? OK maybe 2 and are you going to space your tranny sprocket out at all or are you going to seat it as far as it will go onto the middle gear shaft? It looks like Pggg put his on as far as it will go.

IIRC, the distance will be 15-20 mm AFTER the bearing from mine, That's why I cut the chain pathway in the frame. But with the housing I am making it can be adjusted outwards past the outside bearing to @25mm or 1 inch give or take. so many diff. swingarms would work.....
