Gar, yeah I meant bicycle speedo, they're real accurate until the speeds get way up there. Chop, looking thru a sprocket PDF catalogue, seems VFR's are restricted to one size rear sprocket, 43 tooth only. I was lucky as my ZX wheel fits Busa sprockets too, available from 38 thru to 46 tooth. I like the 3700@100kph ratio, it's about 400 revs less than stock XS, and gives a relaxed cruise, but still gives the bike great response or 'get up and go' at any revs in ANY gear, any lower than, say, 3500 revs@100kph and the bike becomes basically a 4 speed, with 5th only any use as an overdrive.

I did the research before and a commercial 13t sprocket from a yamaha warrior (ATV) will fit the xs11 shaft. I would want the 530 sprocket though... where do I look?

Gary50 knows of a sprocket cutter, from memory Warriors and Wolverines WONT fit the stock XS shaft, they fit a smaller diameter shaft though the spline pattern is shaped similar with 6 notches, they're also only in 520 pitch.

Hey, pggg what is your 96 kawasaki rim size?. And not to offend, but is your rim true to centerline with the front wheel. I found a 17x 6.0 that I like and think it should work as long as the upper chain doesnt hit the two frame tubes to the pivot point. The lower tube is no problem. I found a way to reroute it without loosing pivot position.I googled 96 zx6r wheel and couldn't find a dimension....thanks....chop

Hey Chop, yep, stringlined dead centre rim to rim along with dead centre sprocket to sprocket, 4 1/2 inch rim stamped J17 x MT 4.50, takes 160 - 170 width radials. Later model 6R's went to 170 - 180 width, theres quite a number of Kwaka rims that look identical, they're stamped with different numbers though, mines stamped R1251, back when I scavanged it from a wreckers, I actually thought it was a ZXR400 rim, so brought a new 38 tooth ZXR400 sprocket(520 pitch) for it, only to discover- doh - it was a 96-97 6R after all. Anyone want a new 38 tooth ZXR400 rear sprocket?

MAN, I was sweating your reply. I am basing my chain setup from your 25 pics I have saved to a flash drive that I took to work and studied. Your upper chain pic has 25mm clearance and I was begging to wonder if I could get a 17x 6.0 rim on without messing with the 2 upper tubes. I agree with DennyZ, "Go big or go home",so I bought the Triumph SSSA and the honkin' stock 190 rim so I can put on a 200 tire. Looks like it will work. I am not worried about chain position, it will be adjustable at the front sprocket....thanks again...here's my setup

Good one Chop, hopefully with the rim centred the Triumph swingarm pivots will come close to the XS frame pivots. The C/L to sprocket sideways dimension, as in this pic, will give an indication of frame clearance and also where the front sprocket has to sit

If you cut the xs11 swingarm exactly in half, does this point line up with the centerline of the rear rim? maybe pggg can answer. This info will save me even having to mess with a homemade jig.....

Hey pggg. my inside sprocket to c/l on this setup is 117.5mm. I checked all the old links reguarding your chain drive.You said 118 was "bang on". so as soon as I find the correct info from the previous question I can start my machining of the S/A bolt spacer .this is gonna be sick

1 more question. what's your inside sprocket to outter rim distance? Notice the reason why I chose the triumph S/A over the VFR, 11.25 inches end to end (286mm for you metric folk). The spacer will not be diff. to make not to mention the stock 190 tire....the sickness begins.....

Hey Chop, place a string on the ground front wheel c/l to rear wheel c/l on your stock XS to find the exact c/l mark between the pivot points, your 117.5mm c/l to inside sprocket is gonna be good to go for lining up a front sprocket, just checked my kwaka rim with a ruler, the rim outer edge to inside sprocket is 18mm. (give or take a mm or so)
