Well, I havent had my bike as long as you Ivan, Im still replacing things, no spares yet.

I got called in to work today for some ER calls so all I got done was the speedo cable, coils, wires, plugs and the "geezer" rectifier. What a difference that makes in the way it starts though!

I dont have my little shop wired yet and my halogen light went out so maybe tomorrow Ill get the clutch and stainless brake lines on.....or just maybe Ill blow that off and go riding.

Edit: I just noticed DenyP's post before mine was number 420 for him, that gives me an idea :P

Repainted my front wheel and rotors gold. Bling Bling! It's quite a bit more gold than original. It looks more like the chrome style gold. I kind of like it though. Going to see what I can do with my leaky petcocks.

Well, as Santa Cruz is apparently WARMER than Lompoc, although about 300 miles NORTH, I went for a ride. Took the MNS to the farmers market, and then used the '79 to go to my class. I have a Saturday "course play" golf class at the community college. I welded up a rack to hold my clubs for the '79, so I use it for the trips to the course we play. I get some weird looks as I pass the cars at ??5 miles per hour on Highway 1.

I finally found the 30A relay I've been looking for since some time back in January so today I installed the horns from my old 1971 GMC 1 ton van on the bike.

          No more weak, tinny, Yamahorns.

            Personal best to date..

Between downpours yesterday (in my carport and rear lanai) I was able to remove the carbs, tear them down, clean them,.... and put them back together and re-install them. Amazing what you can do in the dark once you know the terrain. She fired up perfectly after only 4 hours of work. Fourth carb clean, btw. Found nothing to visually ascertain the source of the problem, but whatever the problem, it went away.
I also installed the carbs on the starboard engine of my boat and thankfully it also fired up nicely. Scary since I'd never done outboard engine carbs before, and actually they are less complicated than four stroke carbs. So, two Yammy engines in as many days make for a good weekend coming up.

Today i moved my bike ahead 2 feet so I can get into the shed. Ya the bike was out all winter sitting in front of the shed door. Most of the shed roof is missing so I figured it was about the same as leaving it outside. This week I got to tear apart the iggy switch so maybe the key will turn.

                      replaced the handlebars...

wasn't too hard - had to go find new cap screws since I wasn't using the risers from the drag bars when switching to the standard type bars -

rides different - feels like it needs more bar pressure when cornering since the bars are higher but now I don't have to hunch over any more to reach the bars

I got the bike back together and synced the carbs. I must not have done too terrible cause it didn't feel any worse. In fact I think I had a little more bottom end than before. I still need to shim the valves so I'm taking it easy. Went for a ride but had to come back cause my headlight wasn't working. Must've missed something. I like the new gold paint on my front wheel, it brightens it up quite a bit. Most people probably won't like it cause it's not the factory color, but I think it's cool.

Oh yeah, I cleaned out my forks and put new oil in them. Since they aren't leaking anymore I added 20 lbs air, man what a nice ride now. I used PJ1 10W fork oil. I'm pretty happy with PJ1 products so far.

                            Ivan,
                            that engine looks real sweet,
are you painting the carbs the same colour
                            as the engine?

Today my bike and I had our first bit of slab. It was only from one exit to the next, so no big deal. Waiting on that MSF course this weekend to really take a longer ride, especially now that I have my saddle bags on.
