      • Being as everyone else is showing their stuff
I finally rolled the 81LH MNS Frankenbike out of the garage last night. A few too many beers to be doing any test riding so put it off until tonight. Huge rain is just about here so I settled for a few pictures for now. Sorry it is not a brighter day to take better pics but they will come after touch ups. Been 4 yrs since I bought it and I have been tinkering with this one from time to time ever since. Disregard the date on the pics as I am too lazy to reset it every time the batteries run out.

First pic is how it looked when I dragged it home and asked SWMBO if I could keep it.

This is how it looks now. Still needs some touch ups after I test ride it but not going to fix those till I know it runs great.

Anyway, it runs great, all the gears are working good and it's quick.

Might go ahead and ride it to work tomorrow. Needs a bath pretty bad after sitting in the garage for 2 years being S-L-O-W-L-Y assembled.

                  • After putting my 'new' speedo into my SG, I decided it was time to figure out why my hazards weren't working.
I took apart my switch and found one of the solder joints broke.
While trying to solder that one back one, 2 more broke off.
2.5 hours later and some swearing, I got it all back together and it works great.
The horn still doesn't work though.
It was 9:30 and dark, so I decided it was time to quite while I was ahead.

                        Hi JJ,
those pegs are about the same height as the stock rear pegs on modern sportbikes.
As the average sportbike rider is too young to have children, let alone grandchildren, he'd most likely want to carry a young lady.
On pegs that fit a 6 year old.
So where could a young man find a sexy midget these days?

                          Hi GL,
the bike is telling you it's Stebel-Nautilus time.
You gotta get into the horn circuit anyway so connecting the necessary relay will be half done already.
Replacing the stock horn's pathetic bleat with a 139dB airhorn blast is a good thing.

Put on the tank badges, installed some highway pegs, finished installing the XJ rear shocks, and took my little Street Shield EX off Doc's bike and put it on for a little protection until I get a fairing squared away.

Gotta get rid of that 7 year old D404 on the rear. It nearly wrecked me today in a sharp turn.

                              Hi Greg,
how much tread left on the D404?
Us sidecar guys ain't at all bothered about the tread's edges not gripping because we never use them and although old tires grip less as they harden over time they also wear better.
The shipping cost would kill the deal for me but a local sidecarist would be happy to buy it off you.

Got tank cured and petcocks installed. Started breaking down rim to put new Michelin Commander on it (to match the back one I bought at XS SE). And all new battery cables with additional battery to engine ground.

Should be riding by next weekend.
