  • Bummer ..........
I was reading about this on CPR

Apparently constructing a new Visitor Center at the top. To do that they need to close a lot of the current parking lot for three years as the new center is built. So who knows how this will end up by 2021-2022.

It went on to say Cog Rail was private company. Re-examing the business and business model. So that may remain closed. See www.cograilway.com Another bummer. Said likely not a business a government entity would want to mess with. So sounds like the thing will be dicey for awhile.

    • Good points Jeff, thanks for the info.

Ok guys, for shirts would the same one as last year in terms of the fabric in a different color combo work for you all? There isn’t anyone new that I am aware of, so you guys know what they look like.

If yes, I will check the different accent colors (last year was blue with a gray shirt) and also the options for a different main color and accent color combos.

No orders at this point, let’s get the colors dialed in first then get a count. I would do a long sleeve and short sleeve version again.

Of course, Scott is gonna post up his order to be himself....

          • Is the Greenie a 1500 or 1600? It is the Nomad model, correct?

Do you think it might make the trek out here?

Howdy Bonz,,,didnt want to clog up the forum, but its a 1999 Kawi Nomad 1500 carbed, green touring package two tone, with the famous oil pump gear problem that went bad in Beaver Utah,,,so I was able to replace the plastic gear,,,,and put in a steel one while slowly putting the engine back together,,,it worked and now its running,,just need to take it on a long ride to make sure its long roadworthy. I havent decided yet which bike to bring,,,the ol reliable Xj, the newly revived Venture or the Greenie,,,,its all good. Thanks again for the effort,,,you survived another School year and its time to wind down for the summer and onto the rally soon,,,,Mike in Sun DIego

              • Hey guys,

Sorry for the inactivity. Work has been super busy. I'm not sure if I am gonna make it out for the rally this year. If I can it may be just for a day ride (luckily I'm only about an hour away from HQ). Hopefully I'll see you guys!

                • Good to hear from you Sebastian, thanks for the PM too.

Mike, is that a 1980s vintage Venture, as in the V4?

I am in Overland Park Kansas for my daughter’s basketball tournament this weekend. Any you Kansas City area folk wanna give me a shout, love to see you between now and the time we leave Sunday.

FWIW, the ZRX is running strong, probably 500 miles on it now since the new pistons. I know I’ve posted this before, but it’s fun to post up about it again. :-) It’s seen the progression since I bought it from stock engine (10.0:1) with a slip-on and pods, to stock engine full system and pods, stock engine with full system and CVK40 carbs (40mm from a ZZR120, ZX11 has the same ones too. Stock ZRX is 36mm), then popped in ZZR1200 cams and ZX11 ECU, then ZZR1200 pistons and base gasket delete (11.0:1) to the final iteration of 12.5:1 JE pistons, CVK40 carbs, ZZR1200 cams, back to stock ZRX ECU (high comp pistons/engine doesn’t do as overall with the higher total advance of the ZX11 ECU).

                  Looking forward to the Rally!

I guess that “busy” means that business is good. That is a good thing for you and family! I look foCounty road 41.7, weston, forwad to seeing you again. The bike is good to go? Last year you had it pretty dialed-in (except for my hose job suggestions with the octy).

                    • I will definately be riding one of my XS11 model E’s. I have had no bites on Craigs List for the nakid one, so it will either be “lightning” of the turquise dresser. They are both lots of fun. Bonz, I. Am waiting for you to give the green light on shirt orders...

HOwdy BOnz,,,,the venture is the 81 model identical to Motoman's Beauty,,,just not as beautiful. I thought it was an 80 special,,,,but when I finally looked at the serial numbers, it is the kinda rare Venture model,,,runs like a freakin scared hyena. I got it from a guy in prison, sat in the desert for over 10 years on a box,,,for parts,,,,but got it home, and it fired up, so did what I could to get it to be a runner,,,,,missing the factory fairiing and bags, but popped on a vetter and vetter bags....so, thats the venture,,,,schools out, rally is on!!! • Gotcha. I believe that is the “Venturer” you have, the Venture was the V4.

rdmcguy (Joe) has a Venturer he picked up a while back and was/is working on. Joe, how’s it going on the bike? Rally still looking good for you to join us again?

                          • Mike, that Venturer is unique as far as some features. For example, the exhaust is a Special exhaust, it has the largest fuel tank of any of the XS's. 6 gallon I think.

The fairing is a Vetter fairing but was specially built for that bike with the rectangular headlight and Yamaha printed on the side. I have one that goes with The Green Hornet 79 Special I put together, then sold, and recently bought back. I don't think the original bags are anything special. Just the hinged top Vetter bags and Vetter trunk. Might still have those also up in the attic of the garage.

No confusion...….except the spelling. VenturER is correct spelling referring to that yr./model.

                                I recently talked to Bohn.
He says he's planning on making the rally.

He also just traded his BMW LT in on a brand new BMW K1600GTL!
Beautiful bike. Not sure if he'll bring that one or ride his GS.

But he says he is planning on making it.
