  • I'm back!

Hey everyone, Sebastian here. I'm back on the forum and immediately went to see whether there is gonna be a rally this year. Life got in the way (as it has a knack of doing) and I've been MIA for a few years. Definitely count me in for this years rally. I like the area that Bonz was talking about, I was out camping for 10 days up there this past summer with the wife and kid.

All I have to do to get ready is figure out how to get my old touring package back on my bike ('79 XS11 Special, Pacifico fairing). I might be soliciting advice/help when I get into that.

Also, anyone have an issue with my brother tagging along with me? He used to own an XS but it threw a rod so he sold it. He's riding a VMAX now.

    • Glad to have you back in the fold. You bet, your brother is welcome to come. A Vmax would be a nice addition to the other non Xs 1100 bikes that are coming already. Read through the full thread, there's some good stuff and good non related stuff too.

For campsites I am asking for a $20 deposit per person to offset what I paid up front in late winter. If you are doing a hotel check with the ones that are referenced in the thread for pricing and availability.

      • Cali contingent and any others MORE than welcome here, as usual. Anita and I are more than happy to 'cage' lead y'all up to Kremmling, any of the three option rides north off of I-70. That way, y'all can enjoy the ride/scenery for 225mi. and not be concerned bout directions. Fuel/drink stops planned just as if Anita and I were on two wheels. There, we have res. at the Super8.

        • Was reading through this thread to get more info on the rally, will there be a camping option each night? I plan on just bringing my backpacking gear (hammock, tarp, pad and sleeping bag) in lieu of a tent. I ask about this cause really all I need are two trees. If you think I may run into issue then I'll bring a tent, just checking.

          • I plan on riding up there on Thursday and staying over into Friday. We have a flat grassy area, with running water and a grill/fire pit. Will let you know about the trees and post up some pictures. Getting closer fellows!

know area very well, and highly recommend bringing a tent! That area overnite gets really cool, and a hammock and such is NOT a good option. Your location, it would work fine, but not up there.

                • Lol, I think Sebastian is higher in elevation where he lives in Divide than Kremmling. By almost a couple thousand feet.

In any case, evenings do get cool in Northern Colorado however if you have a good sleeping bag and can stay dry a hammock could suffice.

I use a military modular sleep system and a rain fly over top. It's my elk hunting setup and keeps me plenty warm and dry. A pad helps protect from the convection currents.

                            Bishops Castle

                            Top of Pikes Peak!

                            The GPS don't lie...

At the parking lot, top of Pikes Peak... "Dang, that SUV was SLOW".

Friends by the fire... doesn't get much better.

Royal Gorge, JWHughes and I made a quick ride over from the campground. His special treat since he had to leave early the next day (day of the first ride).

JW and the Navy bike, saddling up to head back to Texas.

End of a good day, moon rising in the east at the campground.

Makes a guy want to come to a rally, doesn't it?

                            • Rally 2017 Shirts

                              Hey guys!

Here is a pic of the shirt and colors I am leaning toward. It is a wicking fabric, this is the school logo where I teach on front so you can see how it looks with print on it. The local print shop that did the shirt is the one doing them for the rally. We can get them in short sleeve and long sleeve.

We're looking at around $15-$19 per shirt with this fabric in gray/ blue, long sleeve being the higher price. I think the black print looks good, do you guys want anything on the back or just the front? That would up the cost a bit for the back.

We can also go for cotton in gray and the price would be $12-$16 each depending on long/short sleeve.

I feel the wicking fabric holds up better and does not fade like cotton so the longevity would be a favorable factor to me for the few bucks more.

The logo will have the closest depiction of the XS1100, a symbol of the Colorado State flag and mountains as the background. The wording will be along these lines: It will be centered of course...

                              XS1100-XJ1100
                              (Insert bike here)

                              Kremmling, Colorado
                              July 2017

Above I tried to show the design will have two lines in larger print size, may not be to exact scale.

The design will be ready to preview middle of next week and can make tweaks to it then.

Mainly, I want to know if we are going with a wicking style shirt with two colors or the gray cotton.

My vote is the wicking style fabric. Sharp looking shirt and for something you'll keep a long time I think the best value.
