VJMC has pulled their support from our rally. No explanation was given. Apparently, they don't like our rules, which are show up, ride bikes, and have fun. No detrimental effect is expected from their absence.

We need not sell our soul for the sake of VJMC support...It seems the founding members are quite biased in what they accept ..IMO its all about the $$$ And they arent getting any benefit from supporting the venue...from their POV

I need to apologize. I missed the last conference call with the committee. VYR dropped from VJMC site. Other conversations are going on as well. I jumped the gun and I'm sorry.

The VJMC is hosting a bike show at VYR. VJMC membership is invited. It's just like always with addition of a bike judging event. VJMC site had a glitch. The VYR event is back on their site.

Quick Trip To Iron Horse - 28 Re-Paved!

XS11 Friends,

Nancy & I took a quick trip up to North Carolina this weekend. It's absolutely great up there this time of year! We met up with Mike P. and spent a little time driving around together on Saturday Morning and shared a nice meal at the NOC (Nantahala Outdoor Center). They offer river rafting and this may be an activity some would be interested in during the rally weekend?

Moonshiner 28 (south of 74 toward Franklin) is completely re-paved now and smooth as SILK! As ya'll may recall it was a work-in-progress last year. Moonshiner 28 above the lodge was in good condition and several areas were repaired very nicely at/about the Fontana Dam/Village area.

Route 129 Below the Dragon is in good condition with no detrimental effects from the winter. Should be a BLAST to run down from the dragon into Robbinsville.

Route 64 to the highlands is in great condition as I believe this was re-done a couple years ago. We didn't go all the way into Highlands only to Dry Falls.

BRYSON CITY!
Arriving a bit early to Mike's Place we took a lap around the Bryson City. Not more than 20 minutes from the IH this town is too cool. Steam Train excursion tours and a host of little shops. When ya'll plan your day this town is worth a quick stop IF NOT MORE!

Unfortunately, the IH was booked solid this weekend so we ended up staying down at the Hampton in Franklin. The atmosphere of the IH is unbeatable and we were a bit disappointed. But, it was a spur of the moment ride and the IH is a popular place!!

There may be MORE accommodations available soon at the IH. If you didn't get something reserved, there may be another chance if you prefer a private room! There ARE still a couple camping spots (which will also be expanded before our rally) and at least a couple bunk house spots.

More details and a rally update later this week.

I no longer have a vacancy..We're 3 months out and i cannot wait that long..next week after the 4th i will be out there for a weekend..Prolly stay at the Tuskeegee Motel as I'm sure the IH will be booked..I dont camp anymore...I have yet to ride the Bandit out there so i am chomping at the bit..so to say...

Actually the Smoky mtns are in TN and the Blue Ridge mtns are in NC..so you might want to add the Blue ridge mtns to the text..IF that doesnt inrease the costs...just a thought...

actually i am wrong..both mtn ranges span both states...plus VA...
