my bike look something like that two days ago.
        all back together now.
You're a better man than me Earl! That's my parts bike. I posted the pic just to see if the "Dynamic Duo" (Tod and Greg) would volunteer to race to NY to help put it back together for the rally while drinking all my beer. I left NY on Sunday and am in Boone, NC right now...got a ride report started to try to chronicle our adventures this week.

Another ride to consider in the area is The Loop. Some of us went to Hot Springs, NC last year for lunch and rode The Loop. Very nice twisties there:

              • Not quite as bad off as Billy's parts bike:

That's the current situation. While polishing it up on Saturday I was shocked to see how worn the tires had become in the past few weeks. They were on it when I bought it 3 years ago. Front was 9 years old , back was 7 years old.

I'll hope to be on the road trailering tomorrow evening. I hope to arrive Thursday night.

I'll scuff up the tires on Friday so I'm not sliding around Saturday morning.

                Looking forward to meeting everyone.
                -Mike

                • age and weather conspiracy

Geez its only 350 miles but as the title suggests...i will be trailering it this year...that means more energy for the rally itself... It'll be nice to throw all my gear and clothes in the back seat of my Volvo instead of crammed into soft luggage and panniers...

                        • Beautiful bike, Mike! Nice....

                          Good decision about new tires.
Great road conditions there... almost like new road surfaces!
But, like Bohn told me at breakfast last year before we rode out for the ride at Deal's Gap (my first time to ride it...)

"Bob, ya know how the roads are in Arkansas? Real twisty, but then after a bit they'll straighten up?"
                          I replied, "Yes."
He said, "Well, you can forget that happening here! They NEVER straighten up! The curves are RELENTLESS!! They just keep coming! So be careful!"

                          He was right.

So, your new tires will have plenty of opportunity to get "scuffed".
Highly recommend scuffing them in well before the first group ride.
Ya sure don't want greasy new ones that aren't broken in riding those curves.

Have a blast, wish I could be there, and ride safe!
