Still not understanding how the faster guys being in the back behind the slower riders lets anyone ride the ride they want, but we can discuss it over a cold one on Friday night... as long as they leave the lights on so you can hear? lol.
    LOL...
faster riders are not stuck behind slower riders and if thats the case then pass when appropriate...Marty's point is right on that for this group and type of riding the drop and sweep isnt the best option...I know i am a broken record and this was discussed last year...I'm just concerned that we all ride within our limits and not exceed them...last thing i want is for anyone to get hurt or worse...BTW I'll prolly be the slowest rider this year being on a bike i have never really ridden agressively in the twisty stuff...my suspension setup will not be ideal.

It's what about 300 miles for you?
If you do trailer it, I doubt you'll get the hauley award, I've heard others are coming from farther. (Like TC)

              • I had a great time last year and thought the ride went really well considering the amount of bikes that were in the group. I spent most of the ride towards the front but a couple times dropped back to relax and enjoy the scenery. Ride within your abilities and comfort level. No one will think less of you for riding a little slower and making it to the end.

Really looking forward to the rally again this year. See you guys there.

                  Hi Tod,
I have experienced both styles of guided ride and can say they both work perfectly well when done properly. The drop and sweep method has alot of merit when a large group that do not know each other go for a ride. As the leader can hand pick the first few and once people see how it works they take their turn. If the second guy (you ) fails to stop the 3rd picks up the slack. With the other method if the last guy fails to stop ( I am new and not leaving my buddy) the chain is BROKEN and the second half of the ride is potentially lost or atleast further delayed and confused.
NOT ALL leaders remember to slow down on the straights OR go below speed limit through towns.
ALSO not all those at the back are slow.Bruce frequently rides "tail end Charlie" and only a few of you would be able to keep up with him on his Bandit when he cracks it open.
A Group Ride is a different animal and is definitely not a race.
I am scheming to attend this year so we can share that cold beer

                      Thanks Don,
I had read it before and enjoyed it again. I do try to ride like that with limited success as I find myself grabbing a handful of brake every now and then. Which just reminds me to be smoother.

                      • OK, I was going to go to the xseast but got hurt and could not attend. George was going to bring his synch tool to synch my bike. Is anyone going to have one with them at this rally? If so, I could pay someone to do a synch for me. If not, that's cool too, just thought I would see. Thanks.

                          • If it wasn't so far I would bring mine but 800+ miles on the scoot each way might not be too good for it, especially if it pours rain like it did last year.

Yeah greg, I don't want anyone who is riding there to have to worry about packing something else. This is supposed to be a fun time and I don't want to take away from that. Just thought someone towing might be able to bring one. I don't know how to synch or I would just buy one and do it.

                              • I talked to one of the others that will be there and they may bring theirs. The sync is pretty simple and if we end up with the tool there I don't mind giving you a little instruction.

                                See ya there man!
