That will work great if there's enough slack in the fuel lines, otherwise you're diconnecting the lines to spin the tank then reconnecting the lines again. May not be too much trouble if you don't have clamps on your petcock nipples.
Wow, did I just type 'clamps on your petcock nipples' ?!?!?
Ummm, yes, it does involve removing the fuel lines and re-attaching them...twice in fact. IMO, that is time saved over trying to adjust screws you can barely see while reaching under a fuel tank.
And yes...yes you did say that. Just don't go breaking out your nipple clamps in public George.
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

Bne,
You crossed that busy road I am in there somewhere and know the people in this picture.
Phil
Yes it was a busy road...I did look before leaping...and you should know those folks...you rode with them... I'm really surprised that I cannot find last year's thread on this rally...it seems to have been wiped off the site???
Tod posted a ride report on it w/video in ride reports also.

Thanks Greg...I have it subscribed to now so i wont lose it again...I wanted to see if i posted a link to my PB aalbum which I did...so no need to post it again.
Last year's rally was very successful in every respect except for the wet weather on Sat...still didnt do much to dampen the spirit...but the views could have been better. This has been a very wet year in the S.E. and hopefully by Sept. things will be alot drier.
OK SE Rally Riders
about 7 weeks till showtime, as you can tell, we are running a bit slower this year. My Bad. older & slower I guess ....... wife says no wiser though she was hoping for 'wiser' but it never happened
I will work on the Routes tonight and get those posted tomorrow in case you are interested in that. Got a few new twists to throw in this year.
Shirts? this AM we are working out file type issue with shirt printer. X6 vs AI sort of thing and should have that fixed today so we can post a shirt thread asap. Once posted we will start taking your shirt orders say through Sept 1st or so. That should be plenty of time for everybody to order if they want a shirt. Will get shirt thread up as soon as we get feedback from shirt printer.
Also will update the Weekend Schedule and get that posted too. (so we can all got some reference as to what is happening when, vs guessing!)
Roads are looking good and we are working to get Rally Ready. In spite of two months of rain the roads are good as usual. Color is still Green-Green-Green everywhere. Normally by August the heat & heat & sun have started to turn things brown but not this year. It will be interesting to see if beautiful GA, SC, NC, TN mountain fall colors are Bonanza or Bust this year.
Oh, btw: if you had an email from Iron Horse about your credit card number 'Be Sure' and give them a call so they can run your first nights room $$ on your CC. Their Credit Card security system works so well seems they can't unscramble our CC #'s when it comes time for them to run the deposits. Nice to see something working "too well" especially with cc #'s but a PITA when you gotta call and give it again. just a reminder in case it applies to you
If you have rally related questions you can PM me or jetmechmarty.

Here are the routes we plan to take on the Saturday and Sunday rides. Route is flexible enough so we can adjust as needed and still make the Lunch Stops -or- You can ride your own ride (on this or a different route of your choosing) and still meet us at the Lunch / Break Stops if that is what you prefer.
Saturday Ride Plan looks like this. Put Rally favorite Warwoman Rd (with a twist) back into the mix this year.
BBQ Lunch again this year in Cashiers NC at the Carolina Smokehouse on the covered Patio --124 Miles to lunch stop / 114 Miles back to Iron Horse ...... After lunch we can ride up 215 to BRP as shown or take the "Bad Boy" Charlie Creek to BRP like last year.
Sunday Ride Plan looks like this. Key is to get rolling by 9:30am to get well in front of any auto traffic.
Lunch Buffet or by the River BBQ (your choice) in Townsend TN --96 Miles to lunch stop / 167 Miles back to Iron Horse ...... After lunch we can ride Foothills Parkway, the Dragon and some or all of the Cherohala Skyway
depending on what you feel like doing.
Guess that's it for now. Oh, if you want a gps file let me know. I run new Garmin Base Camp software and it quite successfully extracts route files for loading into other Garmin / TomTom or other GPS's.

I would like to make some points about the Sunday ride. First, we have to leave on time or we run a greater risk of being in 20 mph traffic in the park. If we ride up to the top of Clingmans Dome, there remains a .5 mile walk to the observation deck at the peak. If you elect to do that, you will be about an hour behind the rest of the group going to Townsend for lunch. If this is something you will want to do, please plan ahead. There is plenty of time to fit this in, especially if you choose to skip the Cherohala Skyway run.
Townsend is a good jump-off place for those who will not be staying Sunday night. It will have you on the west side of the mountains and near Knoxville. There are several restaurants and shops in Townsend. I have not tried all of the eating places and some are new since I was there last Sept. It is also close to Gatlinburg if you want to make a side trip.
After Townsend, the Foothills Parkway joins US 129 on the TN side of Deals Gap. From here, you should know your way back to the lodge. You may hang out at the Deals Gap resort for as long as you wish and return at your leisure. Otherwise, we'll get a short trinket stop and continue to the Skyway. This will be a ride to Tellico Plains and return the way we came. For those of you who have done it, you know just how much fun it is. Or, you can just go buy some socks!
Last year, there were enough folks at the Iron Horse on Sunday that dinner was offered. That was a very good option. For some of us, we stopped at the grocery in Robbinsville, followed by a picnic behind the lodge.
If you plan ahead, you have many options available for both Saturday and Sunday. It's your weekend. Make the most of it!
Right now, I am impatiently waiting for the tee shirt printer to contact me with our final design and cost. I expect it to be done today!
