You know what a month is in XS fix-it time when you figure in shipping from parts unknown? I figure I got about 2 hours to get er done. Your concern for my dilemma is touching though . Maybe if I had a garage full of bikes to choose from I wouldn't be so worried. But as it stands, its either the XS or the Schwinn. THose switchbacks would suck with the Schwinn!

Yeah especially with that guy in the pickup truck with wierd plates waiting around the corner. Hey look on the bright side, at least the Schwinn is easy to load in the back.

Mark's Brake Fix

Hey Mark, I know where an XS is that's "just itchin' to be ridden", AND it's already in West Virginia. If your brakes are still giving you fits 'come Rally time --- --- --- --- you can polish your heart out on this ole girl! She will REALLY give you something to do out in the parking lot; i.e. polish/shinning. She's not nearly as shiny as your XS, but hey, she'll beat a schwinn -- -- HANDS DOWN!
BTW, Happy Birthday Mark!
If you'd cut loose of some of that old, moldy money, you could probably have any horse of your choice in the stall. [I'm just kidding around]
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone soon in Pineville. 'Counting down the days, figuring in the "pay days", and coming up with "A WAY".

Kinda quiet. Everyone getting ready to ride.

In a couple of weeks everyone email me with cell phone numbers (if you want) and 3-5 words about your route. I'll compile that info and email out to whever wants a copy. This is in case someone needs a helping hand or wants to meet up. I'll be mostly out of touch next week, training in NYS and travelling both ways too far each day.

I am still not sure which day I am going down to Pineville, might be as early as Tuesday May 23 or as late as Friday, May 26. Sally is trying to get a couple of days off that week.

In case anyone wants to get radical, Rt 16 south out of Pineville goes through Hungry Mother State Park in VA, and has some of the longest and best twisties in the US. If we had a 3rd day that would be a route worthy of XS riding. It is perfect - 87 miles to the I-81 interchange, gas up and turn around and do it again in the other direction. Just in case a few want to put some wear on the sides of their tires. I did...

I agree Marty. Jetmech Marty, myself anjd two of our daughteers came up that way last year. Considered riding on at dark, but stopped in Marion, Just south of Hungry Mother state park. Enjoyed the ride much better the next morning, rather than tired & in the dark. About 2 Very scenic veiws worth stopping @ there. My tires had been worn in the center and fine on the sides. At the end of the trip sides were worn much more than center. Came back through Deal's gap, Bought a pin there for Daughter, Leeanne. She asked why did we get a pin for that section of road. Stated that we had been on sharper and winding roads most of the trip.

Warm weather is here in Ga: 55 - 75 generally. I have been hauling and planting spring flowers for 2-3 weeks. Summer-Coming soon to the Great White North

Thanks Marty for that road advice! I will be heading to Boone N C in September and I think I should take in that road.

Well boys and girls , soon eh!
I just got off the 'phone with Steve , his work schedule is changing so He won't be with us :-(
this means we have another bunk, We , the Candians are booked till Sun AM..... But Gary is going to do an eXStended run after the rally and will probably stay till Mon. He plans on heading from Pineville to 77S to the BlueRidge Pkwy then West to Robbinsville Via the Smokie Mtns. Gatlinsburg and doing 2 days at Deals Gap then 29N to Knoxville 75 N to 64 /70 W to Denver, he will then be heading to Dallas and 45 to Houston then probably 10 to Florida , I would appreciate any phone numbers or phone numbers sent to me , of any good bike shops on this, ahem, route strictly for emergencies or a break down , because he is a very shy guy and has no 'puter , Gary thanked me because he said this sounded way better than "He is an anti-social SOB " which is what I originally wrote . :-D
