  • Hi TC! going to oldbiker648's tomorrow AM with the rest of the cargo.

Lights are no problem, it is the length of time in the saddle for some I was concerned with, that's all.

      • The gorge is a "been there, done that" for me, but I'm in just the same. This will make four consecutive anual visits to the Visitor Center for me on a motorcycle. I'm ready!

            • I haven't been keeping track, Dean, but you are welcome to go back through the 20+ pages and generate a list...

There is a list over on the Yahoo site, that hasn't been updated lately either.

Guess we'll see who is there when we all show up.

I like the Sunday ride as is. Stopping at the overlook will satisfy me. Looks like a long day in the saddle. Just my opinion.

                • Sunday Ride

A possible solution is to get up and going eariler on Sunday. Keep in mind that the gorge ride is available to all as a side trip on the way to and from the Rally.

                  • Hey MartyA,

Yeah, John told me about you bringing the rest of the parts. Sorry I couldn't get up there to see you, but figured we'd have plenty of time next weekend. Been watching the weather reports, it has changed from Rainy Friday and Saturday, to now Scattered T-storms on Friday, but just partly cloudy Sat. and sunny Sunday! John and I have an alternative plan for getting our bikes there IF it is raining Friday, we'll trailer them up. But hoping for clearer skies so that we can ride together along the southern route of Va. to W. Va.!

I've rigged up a DC convertor power supply from my AUX terminals thru the converter down to 7.5 volts so that my Camcorder will have unlimited power, won't have to worry about batteries, so I can shoot as much footage as I want!

                    See you all there SOON!!

                    • Gorge tour:
No biggie, we'll figure it out by Sunday. We have reservations for Sunday brunch at the Hawks Nest, which is not too far from the gorge. The timing was planned for a stop at the overlook, then go to lunch.

We can still do that, and then we *can* split up if necessary, those who want can go down into the hole, the rest can ride the Rt 60 part to Rainelle. If you check the maps we ride to Rainelle and double back for a couple of miles then turn south on Rt 41. The gorge groupies can go right to Rt 41 and meet us on that route. Then we can all troup back to Pineville or wherever the fates take us to dinner.

This is just one thought on how to keep everyone moving forward. We can work it out by Sunday.

That is really bad news. Any chance you can ride "The Black"?

                              • Just some additional comments as we get ready to head south:

Sally and I are heading down Thursday. We have too much stuff to fit on the FZ, so we are trucking it all down. Friday we are running down to Hungry Mother SP in VA for a quick 'spin' and then come back to say hello to the arrivals Friday night. If you are able to come early you are welcome to tag along.

I will have some maps printed, as long as my ink lasts, not precision maps, not hi-tech, just those same maps sixtysix posted on pg 17. You can stop at the WV Welcome centers when you get into the state if you want a real map.

I am printing some forms for everyone to fill out at the check-in desks. These are for 'registration', the door prizes, etc. Be sure to get one and fill it in and get it back to me or madbiker. Be sure your rider - if you have one - fills one in also.

There is nothing formal scheduled for Friday night, the main gathering will be Saturday night at the Cow Shed restaurant, after the Saturday ride. Of course those checking in at the Mountain Motel are welcome to ride up the road to the Cow Shed on Friday night to say hello.

Saturday we leave 8:30 AM from the Cow Shed parking lot. We can all eat breakfast at the Cow Shed and then head out. Actually we will ride right past the Mountain Motel if you really want to wait there instead.

                                NOW I am getting excited...

                                See you there!!!
