Rally ???
Hey all:
would really like to come.
What this the atmosphere like?
Do wives usually come?
I ask cause in the mid 80's I went to Am Jam with my wife (I didn't know really your honor) and I still hear about it today.
I've read about guy's getting together and doing a little wrenching or maintenance at rally's.

Chris Newcomb Ride Report 2/27/11
I asked Chris to write up his ride report. Here it is.
Greetings from VMI. Today, with temperatures in the mid-60s, I decided to take out my bike on a little scouting trip from some of the proposed routes for XS East. I left Lexington headed east on Rt. 60. As I passed through Buena Vista I notice plenty of bikes out fueling up. I began to ascend the Blue Ridge and a guy on a sport bike flies past me going up the mountain. I figure I’d let him find any gravel that may be lying on the road.
I then turned onto a portion of the XS route I had not yet done. It was pleasant ride through the foothills in front of the Blue Ridge. There was the occasional farm truck or elderly person that slowed a line of vehicles but overall it was fun. As I reached Bedford, the clouds began to roll in and I decided to forgo the last portion of the route and head home.
I took VA 43 up to the Blue Ridge Parkway. 43 was very curvy but at the same time very fluid. It was by far the most fun road of the day. If the rain wasn’t closing in, I would probably have gone up and down several times. I spent a short time on the BRP which was also very pleasant with only the occasional group of bikes coming the other way. Then, I had to come off the mountain on 43. Where going up 43 was the best road of the day, 43 going down was the worst road of the day. There must be different VDOT districts that maintain each portion of the road, because 43 West was horrendous. There was gravel all over the place with potholes and patches. I took it very slow and eventually another bike caught up with me from behind. At the stop sign in Buchanan, we looked at each other and just shook our heads. That road can pretty much be scratched off my map. I then took US 11 home. Overall it was a very fun ride minus 43 coming off the mountain. I’m glad it’s getting warmer and I look forward to finding more treasures like 43 east of the BRP.Darrell

Meet up for the ride
Looking at my directions I'll be taking Rt 78 and 195 most of the trip.
I'm in northern NJ. Who is passing through NJ. or in Pa. and interested in meeting up for the ride?
I was planning on leaving Friday morning but; am flexible.

Where is 195?
I'm going down Thursday. On the way down Thurs I'm stopping at Jefferson's Monticello in Charlottesville, VA, 70 Mi NE from Lexington. Appomattox Courthouse on Fri, it's 60 some miles E from Lexington. Then beginning Fri night it's Darrell's party. I think it goes something like: drink, eat, sleep, ride, repeat.Last edited by DAVINCI; 03-04-2011, 01:12 PM.Former owner, but I have NO PARTS LEFT!

XSEast Routes
I'm working on finalizing the routes. I'm planning on riding or driving them in two weeks.
Marlington I would do Sat. Nice lengthy out and in, 150 miles. I also included the option for Cass, 200 miles. Gas is available at Goshen, Warm Springs, Marlinton I think and Green Bank if we do the extended rte. Marlington would also be the food stop. On the north loop Snowshore resort is just off it, could also be a food stop, possibly gas. There's not a whole lot along this route, just check out the satellite view.
Bedford I will do Sun, less distance 160 for my route, just a variation of Marty's. Covers the same ground more or less. Will have to investigate for gas adn food stops though I don't think its a problem.
Tshirt design is up, let me know what you want. Colors, black, grey, maroon, navy.Darrell
