    That be somethin

What a site Mark and I riding in on a 400 Majestic scooter, if we ever hit a pothole?
As long as I can get the rebore kit I should be taken my own bike, all carbs will have new kits as well....still runs fairly well but milage is in the low 30s to the gallon, engine is a bit ratly, you know.....
Hey can we have a bonfire at this rally by any chance?

I think we can, he talked about setting up a big tent in the back yard. If not we can all go over to my house and burn all the crap you want in the yard!

Hey Wayne we did a "Picton short cut" at the brag n drag. They didn't know that is what we called it, and those guys don't know you, but we just HAD to see the Mississippi after lunch AND get back to the motel by supper, so we did a "Picton short cut" across Wisconsin to get to Iowa.

See if sixty six will give us an opportunity to do one in NY.

I was at brag and drag. I remember seeing Kenosha & Lake Michigan in the morning, and the Mississippi River in the afternoon. We did push just a little hard since we slowed down so much while passing the beach. I also enjoyed a nice leisurely lunch and sampled fried Wisconsin cheese curds. mm -mm.
We could not have been going all that fast...after all, I was riding my Harley. Why... I would have to change the air intake, open up the mufflers and have the fuel injection recalibrated to stage one specs to even come close to the speeds alledged. If I was to ride that fast, even on smooth interstate, my saddle bag could shake open and the hurricane force winds would blow stuff out, probably accross 3 or 4 lanes of traffic, maybe from the median to the shoulder. If I was to unrap a slightly dry cigar at those speeds, It would be simply shredded by the wind. Yes, I was there. It was a good trip.
It is OK to ride in 2 or three states on a day trip, except Texas. It took me the better part of 3 days to cross Texas in a truck.

Happy motoring (check the weather @zipcode 30047),

PS I have been talking to daughter, Leeanne, about riding along. She is not an IBA member and let me know. How far I go in one day is affected by passenger load.

If there is snow and ice on the road, If there is lightning striking rather close, or a tornado sighted in area, then I am perfectly content to have motorcycle parked for a short time.

But here today on the 18 of December it was 74 degrees f, sunny, no chance of rain or foul weather of any kind. I was wearong a T -shirt and jeans, listening to Christmas music, riding in a Mercury with the AC on max.
Acute rapid onset PMS can occur under these conditions.

Thanks for posting. I have seen the wintery forcast on TV for PA & Iowa & do sympathise. I wonder if Chevy is still riding to work in Kenosha?

Here in NY (45 degrees) I rode for the first time in 6 weeks or so. I have been working on a Yamaha XT600 and got it all finished except fo the new front tire. It's only going to be 32 here on tuesday so I had to go today. No plates, no insurance, no inspection...didn't see any cars either

We can do a dual sport ride here in May if you want.

                    • Brent,

Rehab is done but there is still some pain that wants to keep hanging around. Doc said that it would be 10-12 months before I get to as good as I am going to get.

The XS is still setting there waiting for me to start taking off the bent and broke parts but I did manage to put about 400 miles on the Harley on a couple of 50+ days. I was wearing a Tee shirt and jeans too (along with a long johns, a regular shirt, sweat shirt, insulated bibs, and leather jacket with a liner). Now that winter has officially arrived, it can leave.

                        Hi Y'all,
                        To Clarify,

This "riding in a Mercury" I did was Driving an automobile. I hate to waste such a beautiful day like that. Might be breaking the eleventh commandment.

It is an inspiration to hear of nothern riders riding year round. "It warmed up to 32 today , So naturally I went for a ride on the XS"

Glad to hear you are riding and continuing to improve Bob. It is ok to ride any bikwe you have to XSeast. But of course an XS sets the standard. Others are sometimes referred to as mere mortal bikes.

                        Happy motoring,

Hey do I detect a hint of fun making about my Yamaha Scooter in the last few posts?
I get no Respect!.... until I pass ya at BUG3 . Humm, ya didn't expect a scoooter to go so fast did ya?

As far as the Eastern Canucks are concerned, I have managed to convinced Bruce to come (as you can see by a couple of his recent posts) and my Laconia 06 partner David Steeves and his old Kawasaki 1000 will come along as well. There is a small chance that there will be a husband and wife team that will come on their new touring bike ; maybe....

So, I just have to get around to booking a room for Larry, Darrel & my other brother Darrel.....

                              Mark,

Welcome to the ranks of past VP. My remarks were directed @ Bob whose XS1100 is currently broken and temporarily out of service. They do however apply to you and anyone who would ride another make/style of bike to an XS1100 rally.
I will answer some questions based on my experience. (YRMV)

HamJam (after selling his XS & getting big KAW) "Can I still play?"
YES - for further info see former VP etc.

My wife, several years ago while still becoming accustomed to my usual level of sanity, asked "You are going to ride a harley to a Yamaha rally????
Yes, I rode my Yamaha to harley rallys. (This has helped with the thick skin. It presents many oppertunities to be courageous and brave, depending on how many harley jokes you tell)... I can ride a harley to a yamaha rally.

"If I ride my non XS scoot the most miles to a rally, can I win a long distance riding award?
No, The XSives will likely disqualify you from this, (especially if you have an extry wide soft seat, biggest floorboards and highest mpg.)

Can I win the Dreaded Harley Award?
Yes. Any bike hauled on a trailer to an XS rally is subject to this dubious honor.

What about performance differences peculiar to my bike?
These can be allowed for. XSives are used to allowing for some difference in the standard/special arena and are quite tolerant.
                              Three examples deserve consideration.
                              1. If you have great breaks, Do not stop too hard & short immediately in front of another bike.
                              2. Do not exceed the lean angle of your particular scoot. (for additional info see prevouus posts on Mr. Deth or pics of Brents favorite tree).
                              3. Expect to stop for fuel every 100 miles or so. This has been established by royal decree of the Special riders and there is no use trying to change it.

...fun making about my yamaha scooter?
Yes, I believe so. XSives will sometimes point out the error of your ways if you have strayed from the true path to motorcycling nirvana. Have you traded in your XS for a sportbike (zip splat), touring bike (rolling barcolounger) or big heavy cruiser (no end to harley jokes). I expect your scoot will get a little good natured ribbing. There is some real dislike for chimp monks among some XSives. If word gets out that your scooter is powered by chipmonks...watch out, post a guard...etc.

                              get no respect? Untill...
Yes you will get respect when you ride. No need to pass. Any rider who comes back from some 'down time' and rides again will get respect, regardless of their ride.

                              Want to go?
Yes, I like those XSive guys & gals. I like the roads they ride. I like the big smiles and friendly ways, even to riders less fortunate on non XS11 rides.

Happy motoring, & hope to see y'all at rally,
                              Brent in Ga

I plan to have the XS running like new by that time. I wish I could go. It sounds like a blast, but the week of Memorial day is booked for as long as the grand kids want to spend that week fishing. I am going to try to make some of the other rallies.
