      Caps

      James
I have 4 caps. They will need to be cleaned and restored like Crazy Steve did with the master cylinder reservoirs. They should work fine.

Yes, Mike, it is. They changed it slightly and lessened the angle on it so the latest one looks like this...

Does this SS exhaust system bolt right up like an OEM exhaust does?

Hi James, I managed to find the original producer of these exhausts. He lives right in my neighbourhood.

He says the exhausts cost 850 euros + 19% vat = 1011 euros ex shippingcosts.
I could pick them up if necessary and look for cheapest transport. Ordered now , delivery in february.
That price is 100 euros more expensive than throught Heinz Wyes, I think he has a discount for buying more systems.
I forgot about the Ebay price, so if you want to add it we have all prices in one posting.

it's actually simpler than OEM. The headers bolt on using the standard finned clamps. The silencers hang from the same points on the alloy hangers. None of the joints themselves have clamps or slots or anything. They just push together. I put a small amount of silicone on the joints although I don't think it's necessary really.

Are you saying that these systems are made in Holland then? Are you sure it's the same manufacturer?

If exporting does he have to charge the 19% VAT? Generally exported items do not pay VAT.

If he's exporting from the EU to the USA, there should be no VAT on the transaction.

                              Very small progress

Well folks...my 'potential new project' kinda stalled over Christmas and New Year because the respray man decided to move his business premises over that period. My job therefore went onto his back burner..... He does such a great job that he is worth waiting for though and, let's face it, there's no hurry. However, I will be driving down next Saturday to collect the completed job.....great rejoicing! I reckon I'll have the bike 100% finished by the following Monday and will post pix of the finished job as soon as it's done and I get a good break in the weather to take some decent photos.

In the meantime, thanks to the kindness of fellow XSive, I got the little caps for the carb screws. Here they are in their full splendour....they really do finish off the carbs nicely.

Whilst waiting for the respray job, I've had the chance to run the engine with the lawnmower fuel tank. I'm pleased to say that the bike starts perfectly every time and responds as it should to the two choke positions. Once warmed up, it ticks over nicely and smoothly, revs up and down fine etc. The engine sounds exactly like my last XS1100. I can't road test the bike until the bike is finished and the weather improves...no way am I taking the bike out in the rain and salt!

So, hopefully a more interesting progress report a week on Monday!
