      Hey Chop ...
I also got them from The UK and they were a BIT*H to get. They would not ship to me (over seas) so I had to find a friend of a lady at work who is in the UK to receive them and then ship them to me. The whole thing was costly in deed!!!

          • The most craziest part of this is that this is your daily ride to preserve your "Restored" bike from seeing miles!! Awesome work!!

            • Ya, well, I'm sure some folks noticed that I am somewhat particular about my bikes. If I'm going to do something I'm going to try my best to do it right. I really do enjoy the wrenching almost as much as the riding. I could have slapped her together in a flash but what fun would that be :-)
The restored bike will always be the first bike that gets insured every year and will always be used as it was intended. It just won't be used when conditions are not ideal.

              • I farted around in the garage today between mowing grass and other chores. I managed to get the front brakes and handlebar controls completed. Controls and mirrors will likely need to be tweaked once I start using the bike but the basic setup is ready to go. The brakes are vacuum bled and as hard as a rock. Got a love those SS brake lines. I have to paint the instrument pods before I can mount the gages. I also had to tie the cables and wiring to the frame after loosing the wire guides. I will not know if this setup will work until I try them out. The square mirrors seem give the bike a meaner appearance.

                • Rob,
I know what you are saying about the mirrors. That is what I have on my daily ride, as well as the MNS. I feel I get a little more visibility from them, and that helps with lane changes and cars coming up fast at lights....

                    • Yes but the restored bike took 3 years to get to where she is today and I still have a few parts for her.
This bike is being put together with the lesser parts that came off the restored bike which will be getting a serious bath today. If I can find a rear axle sometime today I should have a rolling chassis by weeks end. I might get the rear brake MC rebuilt today.

                      • Well, so much for doing any painting done today with rain and a temperature drop that now has us sitting at 8 Degrees. So I got the oil cooler mounted and the air horn which I mounted with the driving light bracket so I would not have to make another bracket. I also did a dry run on rear wheel mounting. I will soon be able to wire up all the electrical accessories, plugs wires and battery. The last big troublesome job sees to be the dismantling of the exhaust muffle. As others have experienced, the baffle is really stuck good.

Ya, I remember switching out to this type of mirror with my original bike many years ago. They offer a much bigger view and are a better match to the square styling of the bikes lighting.

                          • Let there be lights

I farted around taking care of loose ends on the bike between OTHER around the house jobs. I got the rear fender fully installed, got the mud guard install but it will need to be cut when I see how much space the chain and chain guard will need. Got the timing wiring out of the chains path and found a place to ground the engine to the frame. I got the oil cooler installed and ran a basic lighting test. All appears to be OK.

                            • okay so im retarded...

But first off where did you find the wheel on the back of that thing and is it a chaindriven wheel? (if not it sure looks it). And second off where'd you find the swingarm? I'd love to have one like that on my 79xs11 special. Cause i'd like to build a softail chaindrive version of the xs11. But i can't find a chaindrive wheel to fit my bike that matches my front wheel. And i'd like to buy a swinarm as opposed to building one. Building ones not hard but buying one is a crapload easier and quicker. Thanks man and the bikes' looken good!
Yes it's a damn nice bike, yes it's in REALLY good condition, yes it would be a shame to chop it, BUT damn how cool would it look with ape hangers?

                              • I believe that is the stock rear wheel from the bike. Been stripped and blasted.
