Well finally pulled out the shims to see what I was working with. I basically had even wear on everything but one (Intake #3 was at .18 right where it should be.) everything else needs more clearance by .05.

So if I decrease all of the shims I need by .05 then I need:

    1 - 260
    2 - 270
    2 - 285
    1 - 295

But if I decreased by .10 which would be putting them .05 over normal usage, but my understanding from this form is that thats not necassarily that bad of a thing...then all I would need is

    1-260 or 255
    1- 285 or 280
(depending if I stay with the .05 standard or keep them all the same at 1.0)

So a little advice and hoping that the library or someone will be able to help me out!

    Thanks

Oh and to see the ones I will be trading just add 5 to the ones I need...

There will be a change in librarians next month after the MoM... I think he'll do a MUCH better job of keeping up with this than I have the last few months...

The library is now closed until further notice

The library is closed for a changing of the guard...

Randy has graciously agreed to take over and I will be sending the library to him after the Meeting of the Minds...

Thanks Wildkat, I appreciate You squeezing me in at the last minute. This is just another Fine Example of the Great Community here at Channel 11. Earlier this week I called the local Yamaha shop inquiring about shims to the response of "I don't stock them, I can order them, it will take ten days, cost is $25 + tax EACH OUCH!!! PM'd WK, sent 5 shims two way postage, $5 and some odd cents, "THIS SITE & MEMBERS ROCKS" (YEEESSS!!! - with fist clenched pulling down sporting a grimmaced smile )

I did a valve clearance check today. I have the list of shims that are already installed from when I cleaned up the head and lapped the valves well over a year ago. They seem to have settled in a bit...

                    So...

                    I NEED 2 @ 285
                    3 @ 365

                    I HAVE 1 @ 295
                    3 @ 270
                    1 @290

If the pool is in limbo while it makes its way to Randy, let me know... I will try and source them someplace else. But if it is business as usual..( and it worked great last time, thanks John....) let me know...

                    Regards,

                    Gareth

                        Thanks, Randy.
                        Yep. Need Three at 265
                        Two at 285
We were making wine at the shop yesterday, 1500 bottles of a very decent Merlot, if I do shay so myshelf. We crushed in October, stuck it in the jars to ferment over the winter, cracked it a few weeks ago, and yesterday started bottling it. And tasting it.
Maybe it wasn't the best day to dype a boasting to the zhim pool....

                        Thank you again, Ossifer Randy.

I have the two 285's but only two 265's. Do you want them now or would you rather wait till 'Kat sends her stock up here and get the whole lot? No telling if she has any 265's though. 'Kat?

So you went from carpenter to vintner? Interesting.

Amazingly, the local bike shop had them in stock. Even more amazing, they agreed to sell me what I needed for $2.50 per. The salesguy went downstairs to the mechanic who found them in his Big Box 'o Shims. He wasn't interested in a swap, so I have 5 for the shim pool stock. Randy, send me a pm with your address and I will send them out to you..

                              In just one week...

...I triple checked clearances, posted a request, mailed my shims to Wildkat last Thursday, received the replacements at 4pm today and as I sit here two finger typing they are installed and clearances checked all in spec
That is some Five Star service right there I'll tell you what
                              Thanks again Kat
