"is that what they do with show machines, drain the oil?"
Hi Mason,
yeah, especially on the Britbikes. More properly, they don't put any oil in there after they polish up the engine cases. Some don't even put the innards back in the engine. The theory is, if the oil ain't in there it can't leak out. You may deduce my massive contempt for those who show bikes instead of riding them.Fred Hill, S'toon

Thanks Everyone!
Thanks for the compliment Mason. It's definitely no show bike. I've been ragging it out whenever I can. I got to ride a little today. I've put over 110 miles on the rebuild now and nothing has fallen off.....including me.
Believe it or not, that is more miles than I put on it before the rebuild. I rode it enough to know I liked it, then I decided to make it look cool. So I am still impressed with the power. Today rolling down the road about 45mph I started passing an F-150. I noticed he kept speeding up and the passenger was looking at me smiling. I dropped to 4th and throttled it.....not enough. So I kicked it down in third and wrapped it up to about 8500. When I looked in the mirror they were way back there! At the next stoplight they rolled down the window and asked me "what is that thing?". So it's been a lot of fun!
I did put one finishing touch on the bike. I needed some storage and I liked the look of my bro-in-law's tool bag on my bike so I got me one. They didn't have a fork bag to my liking so the one I got is actually a windshield bag that I had to cut slits in the back to mount. I figure that's only fitting on a bike that I had to make everything else for!
My wife said, "You know how I know you're gay? You bought a helmet to match your bike". She's hilarious.
And Prom, here's a picture for you to make fun of my farmers tan reflection....

Hey Da-Bubble, I've got a request: how tall are you and can we get a pic of you sitting on the Mad Mosquito?
I've been sinning (lusting) after your bike ever since you started working on it (or since I became a member, whichever was first) and have considered buying another bike to mod similar to yours and hot-rod it a little bit. I'm right about 6' and lanky, so my XJ fits me pretty well. I'm just worried that if I lowered any future bike I get (like I want to do) that I might be a little cramped.
Oh, and since it hasn't been done yet, here's a picture of what Da-Bubble wanted...
...and what he ended up with.
I'm definitely digging the custom end result over the stock current production! One AWESOME bike!"I said I never had much use for [a pistol], never said I didn't know how to use one."

Ryan,
First off thank you for serving our country! Secondly thanks for posting a side-by-side of the Warrior and Mad Mos. I hadn't done that yet. I'm still looking for a Midnight Warrior to take some pictures with. As for my body composition...well you know those big and tall stores....I have to shop there. I call it the fat store. At 6'3" and 300+ pounds I'm both big and tall . At first when I finished the bike I made my wife promise not to take pictures of me on it because if I did in fact look like a circus bear riding a tricycle, I certainly didn't want to know it. When I was out riding one day I rolled through a strip-mall with reflective windows and saw that I don't look half bad on the thing!
I just finished going thru my carbs tonight. I decided to stay married and not try to fire it up at 3am so I'll have to sync them tomorrow. If it runs, I'll try to get a picture of me on it.
As for the riding position I think it's really comfortable. Even though I'm over 6-foot I wear a 32" inseam (freakishly long torso) so my legs aren't cramped even with the lower seat. I used the street tracker bars from MikesXS which are the widest I could find which also helps the riding position. It's definitely no cross country cruiser but I never intended it to be. The longest I've stayed on it is about 2 hours with no problems. Even my Dad on his Roadstar Silverado has to stop and walk every couple hours.
If you decide to do a custom take lots of pictures and keep us posted!
See ya,
