Yes, the ZRX swingarm is hard to get ahold of, I check the bay regularly for it. Lot of modding going on with that arm.Scappod installed his and then left outta town.Should here from him soon. I figured the brackets for the stock XS shocks will put the new mounts @ 4 inchs away from the top mounts....If I decide to go with this ZRX swinger on my next build, I will use the ZRX shocks or New KZ1000 Shocks (100 bucks ebay) since they are 14.25" I2I....After checking shock lengths, it got me thinking about the KZ swinger again. Since it's 9.25" at the pivotsand the shock mounts are right at the XS11's, I believe the XS11 pivot ends/bearing could be grafted onto the KZ swingarm...There are about 10 of them on the bay right now at $20 each....JAT.....However,If your all about light-weight and performance, the ZRX11 swinger is SUPER-LIGHT aluminum alloy...Chop

      • shock lengths

I bought a new set of shocks on Bike Bandit that are 14 3/8 long and are a perfect match for the ride height of the zrx swingarm...
I now need to lengthen my rear frame arms to support the fender and positioning of the new fender.

Which fender are you going with again? I really like the Yamaha Road Warrior fender too. When you take pics of the set-up, let me know exactly the distance from the Center of the top shock mount hole to the frame mount bolt. All my calcs. have the custom bracket on the left out 34mm and the right 15mm.The swingarm cost seems to be the limiting factor here as I thought it would be. A few XS 750/850 guys are in for the swap as well. Mine has been a BLAST to ride. I am rebuilding an 80 head as we speak for some even more power....

Disregaurding the pivot bolts, The first spacer on the left in this pic needs to be touching up against the XS11 frame when you install, then everything else tightens up...Also the thinner (11mm) thrust bearing goes left and the thicher (16mm) goes on the right. If not, nothing will line up. These spacers were calculated to bring the complete ZRX11 swingarm/wheel in exact centerline with the XS11.

That looks right. I PM'd you about leveling the bike. If your concrete slab is level in the garage, you can put the bike on center stand. Those shocks are different dimensionally to the XS11's but NO PROBLEM. just make sure to level the frame ( I used a 24" carpenter level on the bare frame right above the shock mount bolts). Then use the level or a plumb-bob on the shock to set it vertical(bottom shock mount attached only at this point). Then use a caliper to measure the Frame Shock Face to inner shock face) this is the spacing you will need.

I can't tell from the pics, But as you set on the bike, the swingarm should be parallel to the ground, maybe just with a negative degree or two past parallel....Man looking good....Chop

                  • many options

with 2 simple brackets (Left -Right) like these, the options are limitless on shock choice...the adapter shock bolt 14mm Diameter (10mm for an R1!) needs to be welded into the 1/2 thick adapter plate.

what size rear tire did you decide on? got a pic from the back?.....Also, did you get all the correct spacers for the rear axle/wheel. If need be I can mic this set and post dimensions to make sure you have the right sizes....Chop

                        • spacer sizes

If you could mic yours that would be great I am unsure because I got mine a couple parts at a time... I am about 3 washer widths off and I delieve tthat the axel itself is too long, however I could be doing something wrong. I like the lolerances tight so maybe I am doing that wrong...

I measured everything again and come up with the same spacer sizes for the shocks. everything is level and all too!!!

                            • install is good

Looks like you got the swingarm on correct, the 3-piece thrust bearing on the left is 11mm wide and the right 16mm wide? Just making sure, it's hard to tell from the pics....Since the swingarm is installed correctly, shock mounts are next. So your measurements will be O.k. for the shock spacers. I do have one question for you because I am curious, is your frame a special or standard? and can you get a good measurement from left face to right face where the shocks mount to the frame? I have 10 1/16 using a large caliper....

so basically make a bracket like the one above for the right side. and another one for the left with a longer shock bolt on the adapter and you're done....the adapter bolt will give you another 1/2 lift or so which it looks like you need....chop
