Chad,
I'm so glad you posted and added the pictures of your Dad. God, love him!
Broke my heart in a million pieces to see him like that in those first 2 pics.
But, I will say, in the last picture he's looking better! I can actually recognize him in that one! He looks more like himself today, and the bruising looks way better.
Anita just called me, and asked me to post most of what you posted, Chad.
She has also asked all who will to please pray for Brant as he goes through this surgery in the morning. She told me the doctors give him a one in three chance of surviving the surgery, so it's very serious.
As Chad said, surgery is scheduled for 7:30 am mountain time tomorrow morning. Actual surgery time is expected to last 4 hours. There is also the prep time before, and recovery time afterward, which will be in the ICU.
Brant's tough, and he's no stranger to a lot of this. He's been through bad before. This isn't his first rodeo, by any means. And Anita reminded me tonight... He was doing what he loves to do... what we all love to do here... RIDE.
But tomorrow's gonna be a tough day... for the whole family too.
Brant, Anita, Chad, Randy, and the family...Just want you all to know... I'm praying for ya with all my might.
T.C. And John, I know Brant's grateful. Great job. Anita said she couldn't believe you guys did that, and to be sure to thank you from the bottom of her heart for doing that! She said that was so wonderful of you guys to do that for him!
Please let us know Chad how things progress in the morning, if you can.

Dad is good to go, and he is being carted off as we head into the next stage. Anita seems in good spirit's and just signed the the legal stuff. I'll keep you all posted.
Well we just got an update. The surgeon is flat motoring along here and has his pelvis done. He must operate as smoothly and quickly as an xs1100. Hardly any blood loss and his vitals are strong. The femur will take longer but I'll check back in here when we hear next from the OR.
Sounds great Chad. Tell him we're all looking forward to hearing from him himself. I'm assuming he is awake now.

I'm at a visitor center computer in N.M. GREAT to see you posting updates Chad as I've been thinking of your dad all trip, a lot. Good to see he is hanging tough and making some progress.
I'll be back online when I get home and perhaps will give you and your mom a call as well. Give my best to Anita and of course Brant!
Sorry I miss posted those photos, but I'm guessing most will figure out which is his pelvis and which is his femur.
Dad did great, he already is back in his room in ICU. We cannot see him for about 2 hrs. He will still be in an induced coma and remain on the breathing tubes until possibly tomorrow. They plan on slowly starting to wake him tomorrow. Thank you all for your support and continue to keep you posted today.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you both, and to Anita. I never met your dad, Chad, but I've always been so impressed with his humor, his knowledge, his generosity and his kindness. He is a stalwart of this wonderful community, and will continue to be for years to come.
Hill? What hill? I didn't see any hill! Why wasn't there a sign? And where are my keys?
I smashed my femur exactly the same way, they've done a great job piecing Brants back together. A skilled surgeon.
Mine is a right mess, so bad I have to wear a 3/4"+ pad in my boot, that was 28 years ago, I'm getting a replacement hip in a few weeks.
Good luck to Brant for a speedy recovery.

Brant now the road to recovery has started. I know you have some new scars but what the heck, you weren't that good looking anyway. So now you can take your shirt off or pull up a pant leg and compare scars. It's tradition with all riders. Welcome to the club. The old saying that there are only two types of riders. Those who have been down and those are are going to go down still holds true. Stay strong my friend. It does get better.
