      Thanks, Jerry. I got it.

Spoke with her last night. Brant's in pretty rough shape.
They were going to try to take him into surgery today if he improved some.
I tried to call Anita around noon today, but got her voice mail. Left a message, haven't heard back yet, so I don't know whether they were able to repair the femur and stop the bleeding or not yet.

If I hear anything, I'll let you all know.

      Marty,
I did tell her on the message I left that a lot of you guys would like their address to send cards to them, and asked if she'd be ok with that.
So far, I haven't heard back yet from her.

Hopefully, we'll hear something good later this evening.

I just got a call from Anita. She requested that I share the latest report about him with you.

They were not able to do Brant's surgery today. They still have him on a respirator vent, and will leave it in place until Monday.
They MUST do his surgery by Monday. If not, there's a strong possibility Brant may never walk again, per his Dr.
He is still receiving blood transfusions. He took 6 units today. This is from the femur injury, that the surgery is needed for.
He broke his ribs, and has a collapsed lung. But they have made good progress with that.
His pelvis is broken. His right wrist is broken. His eye sockets and nose are broken.

Now, for some good news! The neurologist believes they have the brain bleed under control and slowed! He told Anita today he's not as concerned now about problems there. (Yesterday, they were afraid of brain damage.) So, that sounds better!

He is still sedated, and will remain that way until after his surgery is completed on Monday. But they will arouse him every so often, to make sure his brain is still functioning ok.

However, she says she talks to him and sings to him, and he responds by squeezing her hand. She wasn't aware of the outpouring for him in this thread from his family here until I told her. She told him that, and he squeezed her hand, a good sign!
She has gone 36 hours without sleep or food. Finally, a nurse made her take a break and ran her out of the ICU.

I also told her Brant may have his member ID and password saved on his laptop at home, where she could get on here, and respond, and then read all that is written here for him in support. She said she would love that and check.
So, hopefully we may hear from Anita soon, using Motoman's posting.

I shared with her how many have posted support for him, and how many care about him. That, and prayers will see them through this.

The Dr's are planning to begin TPN in his IV... pure protein. That's the good stuff.

He is at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, Co. ICU Room 311.
For those that wish to send cards and well wishes, she said feel free to send them there. The hospital is cool with that, and they would be much appreciated.

The family truly appreciates your support and prayers.
        Bob

I can relate to his situation. Pretty sure he's tougher than me.

I hope the nurses are cute, that helps a lot.

Those breathing exercises suck big time when you have busted ribs and a punctured lung. Hurts like hell. Cool little breathing toy though. I almost asked to keep it so I could practice for next time.

Taking a crap is completely out of the question and you can never catch your breath.

I feel what Brant feels for sure......well, except for the other broken bones.

His name is Brant Personeous by the way at St Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado. I donated blood today as replacement for one of his units. The blood bank will need that name and hospital info if you decide to do the same. The blood bank lady told me you can give credited pints for up to a year after use so I will do it again in 8 weeks and my sons will be donating this next weekend. He will be using more blood and platelets likely when he has surgery so please consider giving if you are able.

Blood is expensive and its one thing we can do from anywhere in the country to help. If you have friends and family that donate please ask that their next one be for Brant.

              Thanks

                Thank you everyone

Hi everyone, I am Brants oldest son. My name is Chad and you are certainly welcome to call me on my cell if need be with any questions or concerns. My number is 520-820-6388.

The latest update from Anita is perfect. I think she has a lot on her plate so I'll be sure to provide updates on here for you all to read from here on out to help Anita. Thank you all for the outpouring of support and I'll read my dad your poststomorrow. Let me know if there is anything you would like me to relay to my dad or Anita. I've heard a lot about many of you from my dad, so it means a lot to him that so many have reached out to him here. I'll be sure to share it all with him.

Just checked into the site and saw the thread. Terrible. My thoughts are with you, Motoman and family. Dammit. This just sucks so much. I'm not religious but I'll pray anyway.

Thanks so much for the update Bob, and for following up. There must be many people checking this thread through out the day for reports on Brant's condition. Sounds like a bit of good news but a long road ahead perhaps. And John, wonderful idea re: blood donations... means any of us can help from anywhere! Chad it is nice to hear from you, sorry it is under such difficult circumstances. Give your mom a hug from the collective here. And tell your dad to follow ALL the doctors' orders because there are a lot of guys on this site with screwed up carbs and we need Brant's expertise to help straighten them (and us) out! Continuing to pray for your recovery Brant.

                          Good news

Very Good news indeed. The fact that he is responding to Anita is very encouraging. When I got run over I had most of the same injuries and it took them 30 days before they brought me back around. Once they put the rod in the femur the traction starts for another 30 days or so. But things will improve daily. Chad nice to me you, tell Brant to remember his ABC's (Always,Be, Cool)and not to push it. When he is able, bring him his lap top so he can stay in touch with us while he is in traction. Gets pretty boring having to lay there like that. The rib thing will be sore for months but again it will improve daily. Please give my best to your Dad, Mom and family. You will all, be in my families prayers this sunday.

                            Hi, Chad -

Thank you so much for taking the time to come here and speak with us about your Dad and Anita ... especially in such a trying time as this.

It's wonderful that your Dad is responding ... that is indeed a very good sign!

Tell your Dad that his "XS11 family" misses him ... and we look forward to the day he returns to this site.

And we are not only praying for your Dad's full recovery, but also for Anita, you, and the rest of your family.

                            God bless you ...
