What color did you use on your exhaust? I am hoping for a glossy black ,or a chromish black look.

What temp does it require to apply it? Above 60 deg F like most paints? Is it high in VOCs like some paints? I have a basement workshop I can paint in this time of year, but the smell goes everywhere in the house, so I try not to use the strong stuff down there.

I'm surprised you used the 'red' Dyna coils rather than the green ones. Both will work, but the green ones let you eliminate the ballast resistor and will give you a bit hotter spark when running because they're getting full voltage.

I used the Black Velvet color. They have a bunch you can choose from. Make sure you look at the High Temp Coatings rather than the Gun Coatings, which cure in an oven like powdercoat. I didn't notice a huge smell with the coating. It has some great instructions on the website.

This mod was the most difficult so far. I wanted to upgrade my brakes so I picked up some R6 calipers, build an adaptor, machined some hub spacers, installed some 320mm rotors and installed some stainless lines. I am very happy with the way everything turned out. I also installed Gold Valve Emulator in the forks and added a Tkat fork brace so the frond end should be solid.

The Dyna 3 ohm coils are green too; yeah, the Mikes green coils are crap, but I haven't heard of any issues with the Dynas....

Ok, so I don't really like the xs1100's badges so I took them off. I then proceeded to cut off the tabs that hold the badges. This proved to be a bad idea because I punctured a large hole in the tank. I tried to MIG weld the hole and actually made it worse. So I took the tank to a professional and had it TIG welded. They did a great job. Then I took JB Weld and filled in the large indentation.









I then used Rage body filler and filled in the rest of the indentation. Tomorrow I will sand the filler so everything looks flush.





I also filled in the badge holes on the side covers and the rear cowl.

I finished sanding the tank, side covers and rear cowl. attached the cowl on the seat and set the tank on the frame just to get a idea of it's future stance. I like the fact that I cut down the rear fender. I didn't have the seat and the cowl at the time so I just eyballed it. I actually would have chopped it some more but I think it looks fine. I also installed the front fender and added a cable holder to the right side to hold the stainless brake line.

Hey Jared,

Your photo links are all fixed, so I deleted your post with the big list of links in it.

While fixing them, I noticed this one in post #53, and I think you left off a LARGE WASHER that should be underneath the castle nut on the rear axle, not to mention the cotter pin! Unless you are leaving like this for temporary assembly, and were going to tear it down again for some reason....but still you need those parts.
