I know the feeling. I was planning on making it to 104. You will top me by 89 years. Good for you.
But one day, maybe 10 to 15 years, this Yami will start to feel too heavy.
Meantime I am working on the much lighter XS400, and soon a 200 Vespa.

We tend to rust out here on the wet coast. You guys get preserved by freezing every winter.

      • Hi Matt, I did a search on the bearing part number, NA5904 SYI, that is on ebay and I believe the SYI is the company that manufactures them but not sure.
I tried to find the dimensions also to no avail.

I'd order one or two if I did'nt have two spares on the shelf.

        Price is good.

        • I got the corn dog stick out of my oil reservoir. <sigh> No grown man without children should ever have to say those words. "Yay, I got the corn dog stick out of my motorcycle!"

          • Holeshots !

Went out on a country road and practiced holeshots for the first time. It was a little scary the times the front came up and the back was screaming and fishtailing. I almost dumped it twice. It is a fine line to get the right rpm and let the clutch out at the right rate to get a good jump and not kill it or pull the front end up high and lose control. I wish I had more torque. My bikes(XJ) rpm is hard to control above 3k when not under load. She just wants to take off running. Also, the rate of "grab" from the clutch begun to change after about 10 tries. It engaged quicker and quicker until it was slightly engaged with the lever all the way in. It was lots of fun!!

            • Feedback please.......
Compression 120+ all four...Changed oil and mid and fd lube.....replaced the fuse box and main fuse, pulled all connectors, clean and grease, replaced plugs, removed and cleaned out carbs,(#1 was the worse one, as always) set the butterflies evenly...floats all even, inlet valves work fine, fixed the pick up coil wires(two front(top) ones)....fires up, charging 13.6, skipping jumping for a few minutes, warmed up, not hitting on all four, shut it off, check a couple things, start it up, now it is hitting on all four..but..still doesn't "feel"right....take a quick outlaw run down the road, pulls good but needs the revs to be smooth...
Got back idle too low, turn it up (who ever put that there ought to be shot)
Still has to clear itself off idle....I'm guessing I have to be more thorough syncing the carbs.....gonna pick up my carb tubes this week and sync it up better...
              Am I missing anything?

All the lights and switches work....horns worked once then took a hike....gonna clean the switch gear next weekend...
No clutch problems or first gear jump....and the brakes work....yea......
I dig these big fours cylinder bikes....

                Am I missing anything?

Yes. That is not a lot of compression. If the bike is running well and pulls strong, I would suspect a faulty gauge. Did you have the throttle wide open when you checked?

Meanwhile I may need a new battery. Was showing 12.25 volts when I removed it. On charge for a couple of days and have 12.5 volts. Will buy a load tester next week. Might need to be hit with the bigger charger. Better check the specific gravity too.

                  • Supervised my son while he rebuild his carbs. It was his first time. then bike has been sitting for the last two years. He could not believe that gas could turn green. (sorry no pictures) He got them all back together and will put them back on the bike tonight.

                      • Sunday

Was 25 F Sunday morning. Was going to ride the XS400 today Monday, so did a test fire. He reluctantly ran. Next was Yami the XS11. Key on, neutral light, red light on strike, press starter button and urg ugg. Confirmation the battery had finally died. Got an idea. Pulled out the kick start lever. Two cautionary pokes, two with feeling and Yami fired up. So now we know. If you have a half dead battery ( 12.25 volts ) with no grunt left, the bike will still run by using the kick starter. Wish all other bikes had one of these.

So, what kind of 'kicks' you get on NC 66??
Says: NC 66 begins at the intersection of High Point Road and Horneytown Road in Horneytown, North Carolina.

As for me, I was surprised with a cranking but rough start problem. Found the 2 year old Vacuum Caps on carbs #1 & #4 were all very cracked and leaking badly.
A trip to Napa for new Vac Caps and $3.00 got me back to zoom-zoom. Sadly no time for a ride though.
