  • I brought the SF in my sig out of storage and have the carbs off to clean them up. They were drained for storage but had a splash left in the bowls even after pulling the plugs and its a mess. Pulled off the stock bars and in progress of putting clubman bars on it. All calipers are hanging and waiting for a thorough cleaning and to be reinstalled. The bike is missing the key so I need to figure out something there too. I took the battery box out and will paintg it for corrosion control and I also cleaned up all the gounds and most ever connection got a once-over with a wire brush. Head light is off and need to find a round headlight and front signals. Rear tail light is not stock and will be replaced. Considering bobbing the rear fender some and going with two small round intergrated brake/turn lights. Forks are wicked soft and might need seals or just air. Bike was last inspected in 2005 and only has 25K miles on it. Inspection sicker under that is from '85... Engine oil will be changed and started once the carbs go back on, last time it ras was when I bought it and put it in storage.

When I went to get it out of storage at my fathers, I took a closer look at the 78E he has in storage and noticed it has a set of spaghetti 4-2 pipes on it. Then noticed the other spare 79 SF that was in front of my SF has a RC 4-1 pipe on it. Good thoughts are running through me head.

      • I manufactured luggage bolts

I only had the 1 Samsonite locking bolt for the luggage on Enterprise.

I made these from 5" bolts 1/2"-13tpi cut down and drilled for small Master locks to both make it tougher to steal and prevent backing out.

Cost $2.23 ea for the bolts and $5.32 for 2 locks.

Also put my license plate frame on and touched up some accents. Put on new LED driving lights but no pics til tomorrow.

                • Somewhat. Stabilized more.

I matched the yellow and touched up graphics and pinstripes and added small details. For the tank I used Sharkhide to clear over it all. It added a smoothing layer and sealed the crazing. It looks improved in some areas.

I also used clear and Sharkhide to renew the Samsonite luggage. Worked well and eliminated sun bleaching.

                        • 10 hrs work

New brake pads came so I decided to work on the front end, 8 hrs. and another 2hrs. this morn. Painted forks, stripped and painted front fender, lowered the front fender to make a little more room for the Tarozzi fork brace, wrinkle painted the front rim and inner rotors, cleaned calipers, put new pads in, new tire. Most likely will never see the front end this clean again.

Thanks. Front wheel is from an earlyish xs650. It has the HD aluminum rim. Bolt in, no mods. Both the one disc and two disc wheel will fit, you just need to find another disc to bolt on to the hub. You can find them on ebay for not too much money but I found mine locally.

I'm working on fabricating a rear wire wheel as well. Have all the parts ready. Just need to bribe my machinist friend with some beer.
