What did you do to your bike today?

I changed the sockets too TC. Not sure why it won't work right. Maybe not enough amps to run the converter. It would work right sometimes and sometimes not.

I'll just mount another pair of lights either for the brakes or T/S.

I did put the 2 part clear on the tank but somehow the fuel got in under it and blistered a 1" -2" spot. There was a large area that was stained but no real damage just that one spot. Gas wicked into a little scratch or nick I guess. If I would have caught it, it wouldn't have been a problem.

I'll fix it. I'll need to touch up the lower edge of the right bag too.

Life sucks then you get a motorcycle.

i i put on my ebay acct... super easy. changed the valve cover gasket. put on my new to me alternator. pryed out the left side crank seal and ordered a new one and changed the brake pads all the way around the bike. and lots of cleaning. it was a busy few days.

I color sanded paint for the first time, and wow was I amazed at the change. I was also greatly relieved when the buffing with polish brought the shine back up.

"Kreem"ed

Put a second coat of Kreem in my tank prior to finishing the paint job. I developed a leak from a rust pinhole and decided it was time for a paint job. I sealed up many holes with JB Weld. I read up on it and it is supposed to be gas resistant. In preparation for the Kreeming, I used acetone to remove the old Redkote. I had no leaks from the acetone, so I am comfortable with moving ahead with the paint. Anyone out there with experience using JB for pinholes?

I am not certain the order of the work you described, if you Kreemed the tank after the JB weld, you should be fine. If you developed pinholes that leaked through your Kreem liner, and those were patched with JB weld and will be exposed to gasoline, I would reline the tank before painting it. JB Weld will hold up for a while, but it will fail under constant exposure to gasoline.

Sorry I did not make myself clear. I JB'd it BEFORE Kreeming it. What experience have you had with gas breaking down JB? I have not put on my finish coat yet and want to make sure it will not leak. If I have to, I will grind off the JB and weld it. I shied away from welding it because I thought I would just blow out the super thin rusted metal. Anyway, I have 2 coats of Kreem on it, heavy in the bottom areas where the holes are.

You should be fine then. Another member here used JB Weld to fix his tank, it is a standard model and the gas cap recess drain tube rusted out in the tank so gas would run out the tube. Lasted a couple years or so, then leaked all over him.

If you kreemed after the JB you should be fine, the Kreem is the seal, not the JB Weld. It should never see gas.

Geez Greg, you should have cast a wider net. You could have saved yourself some work, and increased your holdings.
