It took quite a bit to figure out how to get them mounted as the brackets that were with them were either incomplete or for something different. A little thinking outside of the box got it done. Wired up the two inner lights to work with the brake lights and the outer ones are the turn signals.

That looks like a nice set up. Do all those extra tail lights light up as running lights or are two brake lights?

Mounted this fairing on the '79. It is a fairing off of a Venture that i got from Ivan.
Had to cut a piece of glass for it and fix some of the wiring. I didn't bother painting it as it is just temporary until i get the other fairing i am working on done. This buys me some time so i don't have to rush it.Harry

Actually, nothing at all. The bike is running so good, I really cannot think of anything to do to it. Maybe when things wear down, I'll do a valve clearance check, and check the timing and re-sync the carbs and re-set the air-fuel mixture. I'll have to re-build the petcocks, probably pull the calipers apart along with the master cylinder to see what they look like, check on all of the electrical connections, re-paint the engine, and then possibly think about a new color for the tins.1979 XS1100F

Checked the valve clearances, re-synced/colourtuned the carbs. And, ripped up a valve cover gasket.1979 XS1100F

Made
Made the decision to start the process of getting mine on the road, joined the forum and started the assessment.
It's a 1979 1100F with 28K miles. Belonged to my Dad in Illinois who parked it after getting a new bike about 10 years ago.
Brought it down to me in AZ and it's been sitting in my garage for the past 6 years.
Looks a bit tired...dark covers, a bit of rust from and last it ran..pretty rough.
Used to own a new one when I was over in Guam, so I know the bike well and miss the feel of it. Time to feel the rush again..
Pics/links and a thread when I actually do something credible...79 F

Running Again!
The Cruise Missle is once again running. Cleaning the carbs did the trick. Balanced them, but need me a good tach to set idle mix, as my ears aren't good enough anymore. Installed the stock exhaust system I got from tv5150. I like the sound much better. Screaming loud is just not my thing anymore. Haven't got to ride yet, as I have a few fuel leaks, at petcocks, to deal with. Thinking about going with the Pingels, just to not have to deal with the old stuff."I'd rather be fishin'"

Of course if any parts are past fixing and can not be redone or found elsewhere, then by all means do what you have to in order to keep these bikes alive.

Not worth it
It is not the petcock itself that is leaking. It is the mating surface. New o-ring, new screws, new screw washers, and still leaks. Tried permatex moto gasket, and it is down to less than a drop in 8 hours. just on the right side. Money is not an object with me as it is with some, and I surely know how they feel, as I have been there before. My time is much more valuable now. I believe the Pingels will give me a better mating surface w/permatex, than the o-ring. Also I like the looks of the Pingels. And keeping this bike stock is definately not part of my plan."I'd rather be fishin'"
